Why Halloween Candy Is In Stores Earlier This Year
It happens every year, when you least expect it, on your way to the aisle with paper towels, you notice out of the corner of your eye… Halloween Candy! It always seems to be annoyingly early.
But if you were feeling like this year was exceptionally early for Snickers to sneak into the shelves, you’re right!
Halloween in August? Really?
Yup.
Most stores have started Halloween displays early. Usually end of summer or early September is the norm. Of course, it’s an effort to drive up sales, in a very fragile consumer market.
However, according to senior vice president of public affairs and communications for the National Confectioners Association, Christopher Gindlesperger, the candy category is “very resilient in this COVID-19 environment in that people are looking for simple pleasures and a little escape and enjoyment in their day to day.”
Apparently, candy is not something we are willing to sacrifice, so companies are taking full advantage. So, in the spirit of capitalism and Halloween… Please, pass the Zombie Sour Patch Kids.
Halloween candy displays have arrived even earlier this year. The Covid-19 pandemic has candy manufacturers like Hershey hedging their bets for what is typically their biggest season. https://t.co/KS7G4lKit9

This Halloween, trick or treating may be cancelled, but candy is not! So, many manufacturers are talking about concentrating on family-size packs of its best sellers.
