Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?
Those of us who are old enough to remember, remember exactly where we were 19 years ago today… when the world stopped turning.
In the beginning of this pandemic, those old feelings were certainly stirred up again. The fear, sadness and anger. Only now, we have no one to direct our feelings to. It’s a virus, it’s intangible, but yet, it’s the enemy.
Just 2 months after the September 11th, 2001 attacks on America that led to nearly 3000 deaths and over 6000 injuries, The Country Music Association aired it’s annual awards broadcast. It was that night that we were reduced to tears. It was that night that our fears, tears, and chills brought us together through music. It was Alan Jackson who created the emotional encounter. And it was his song, “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning,” written in the hours following the terrorists attack, that nearly brought us to our knees.
