For The First Time In 159 Years, Santa Will Skip Out On Macy’s Appearance
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus… But Yes, Virginia, there is a pandemic going on, so Santa will not be stopping by any Macy’s stores this holiday season for his annual meet and greet/photo op with kids, and customers. This no show puts an end to the 159 year tradition. So, no Miracle on 34th Street.
But chin up, kids. Santa is hip to the virtual world. So starting November 27, and through December 24, Santa will be available, virtually. THere is a limit to the number of children that can be on a virtual meeting at once, so keep that in mind.

According to Susan Tercero, the vice president of Branded Entertainment at Macy’s, “”To replicate the magical experience of visiting Macy’s Santaland for children and their families, we will shift to a virtual engagement this year.” It will be available online through the Macy’s website.
The virtual experience includes a greeting from elves who will take you through Santa’s village and workshop. There will be interactive games to play. The grand finale is a chance to meet Santa, through an interactive video. Kids can tell Santa what they want for Christmas and even get a Santa-selfie.
What about the Parade? It’s still on and Santa will be there! Macy’s isn’t giving the jolly ole fellow a vacation or anything. He will be starring in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. But this year, it’s a television only experience. So, stay in your pj’s, grab a blanket and enjoy.
