Lauren Weintraub has a story to tell. In fact, she has many stories to tell. Stories that need ears. And now is the time to listen. This artist has flourished in the bright light of Nashville, thriving on the nutrients of her idols and peers, growing exponentially.
It has been four years since Lauren first came to share her music with our audience. She was still in high school at the time. Yet even as a teenager, it was obvious her art was far beyond her years. She exuded a confidence rarely seen in someone so young, singing songs written with an air of sagacity, humility and humor.

Watch out world, here comes Lauren. This is her time. Her new song is officially a viral sensation, thanks to TikTok and Instagram. It has over 1 million streams on Spotify, and this is just the beginning.
The clever, “She’s Mine” is a “Girl Crush”-ish story of a girl longing to know more about her former lover’s new lover. Obsessing over what she has and what they have. The title is perfectly deceiving. As the song builds, it culminates with the reason for the title, “Guess we all got reasons we can’t sleep at night…And she’s mine.”

- What lead you to music: I started in theatre as a kid. I played the role of Annie multiple times and really thought that was the path I was going to take. When I got to high school (around age 15), I wrote my first song and from the second I finished it, I knew I wanted to do that for the rest of forever. There was something special about the transition from being on stage performing someone else’s story
to telling my own. It was always music, but it took me a second to find what about music it was that I really loved. And that turned out to be writing my story and singing it! - How old when you started: I was about six or seven years old when I started singing and about fifteen when I wrote my first song.
- First country song you learned: Either “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack or “Who I Am” by Jessica Andrews.
- Instruments played: I play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and piano! I am a sucker for guitars and I collect them. (I also collect shoes).
- How would you describe your sound: I would describe my artistry as the place where storytelling meets commerciality. I love the storytelling and detailed style of a lyricist like Lori McKenna, Jason Isbell, or Chris Stapleton mixed with the hit song sound of a Katy Perry, Maren Morris, or Alicia Keys. I love to throw a tiny flare of R&B in there as well.
- Who inspires you: I grew up listening to Carole King and Bruce Springsteen. As I got older I started to listen to what was popular at the time: Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles. I then found country/folk music and started loving Lori McKenna, Donovan Woods, Hunter Hayes, Brandy Clark, Charlie Worsham, Maren Morris. I would say you can hear a little bit of all of those inspirations in my music. Outside of music, someone that inspires me is the author Elizabeth Gilbert. She is an amazing writer and speaks a lot on creativity and the artistic process. She’s definitely someone I want to meet one day.
- Awards/accolades: Lauren won the 2018 Recording Academy/Grammy U contest with her song “Careful Now,” while her “If You Were Gonna Leave Anyway” entry for NPR Music’s 2019 Tiny Desk Contest earned a “Top Shelf” designation from a panel of judges including GRAMMY® Award winner Jason Isbell. Nashville Songwriters Association International also named Weintraub “One To
Watch,” in addition to an honorable mention in the 19th Annual NSAI Song Contest presented by CMT and Martin Guitars & Strings. Lauren officially began her professional songwriting career in June of 2019, as she became the first signee to a joint venture between hit songwriter, Grammy® nominee, Warner Brothers Recording Artist, Brandy Clark, and Big Machine Music, the heralded, music publishing company which has been named to Billboard Top 10 Hot 100 and Country Music Publishing Corp for both 2017 and 2018. - Dream duet partner: Oh my gosh. I have so many answers to this question so I’m going to narrow it down to three. John Legend, Shy Carter, and Sheryl Crow.
- All- time favorite country song: “Need You Now” by Lady A or “Elephant” by Jason Isbell
- First country concert: The first country concert I ever attended was Taylor Swift’s Fearless tour at Gillette Stadium!
- What songs do you like now on Country 1025: “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90s” by Sam Hunt, “More Hearts Than Mine” by Ingrid Andress, and “Love You Like I Used To” by Russell Dickerson
- If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: If I wasn’t a musician, I would probably be writing novels, doing interior design, or exploring the entirety of the US in one of those tiny mobile school bus homes. I love spontaneous adventure, design, style, and words.
- Day Job: I’m wildly lucky to write songs for Big Machine Music and Brandy Clark full time!
- Most proud moment: My proudest moment in my career thus far was probably playing the Best of the Best showcase at Belmont University. I got to get up on an arena stage and sang a song for a crowd completely acoustically. It was the most electric performance of my life and I loved performing at such a big venue! My parents got to be there and shortly after I signed my publishing deal. It was very, very special.
- Crazy thing that happened in your music career: I recently posted a TikTok of a demo of one of my songs called “She’s Mine.” In about 24 hours, it garnered one MILLION views. I used to put it out and it’s now sitting at about 1.1 million Spotify streams and 2 million streams overall! Four weeks ago, I didn’t even think I’d release music this year, and now I have a debut single out with over a million
streams?! I feel like all my dreams are coming true. - Other things you like to do: I love to roller blade, read novels, cook, make cocktails, and thrift shop for old vinyl and clothing.
- Fun facts: I am a triplet, I street performed in Boston for over 4 years, and I secretly am a fire tap dancer.
