Lately, the Red Sox have been riding the big yellow wave! Since they pulled the "City Connect" unis out of the closet, they've gone on a tear. Don't look now but they have won 7 consecutive games. If you aren't a fan of the alternative colors, you may be stuck with them for a while.
My brother-in-law, a Connecticut resident and life long Orioles fan (don't ask), called me the last time the Orioles were in town and asked me, "what's the deal with the ugly yellow uniforms." I told him about the Boston Strong connection, and they are not only a tribute to the Boston Marathon, but also to Patriots’ Day, a Massachusetts state holiday commemorating the first battles of the Revolutionary War.
The color yellow symbolizes light, and warmth. It is associated with the sun and its life-giving warmth. Of course it also stands for caution, and is used as traffic warning lights and signs world wide. So, when the Yankees come to town tomorrow, they better beware, because these yellow Sox are red hot!
Last night's Sox win keeps them two games ahead of New York, but now the Yankees hold the second wild-card slot, as the Blue Jays stand 2 games behind Boston.
