It's not your father's circus of days gone by, but Ringling Bros and Barnum  & Bailey Circus is back! All new and revamped, Ringling Bros "The Greatest Show on Earth" returns to Boston, finally. Get all the information, including a link for tickets here.

If you remember, back in 2017, Ringling Bros, and Barnum & Bailey's circus days ended. Amid financial problems and pressure from animal activists groups, the company rolled up the big tent, as reported by NPR.  It was a legendary run that lasted 152 years. Known for bringing elephants, lions and death defying acts to cities and towns across America, the business folded. That is, until now.

The 2023 North American tour of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's "The Greatest Show On Earth" has found a new life. And the life of the party is human. All new and reimagined, this version features people in the three rings. This revived and modernized take on the circus will showcase rare talents and skills and amazing exhibitions to enthrall today's audiences.

The Show, The Dates, The Tickets

As described on the RBBBC website, there will be "75 performers. 18+ countries represented. All showcasing awe-inspiring acts. Including aerial, acrobatics, world dance, music, comedy, and jaw-dropping thrills." Ok, I'm in. From triangle high wire acts to stunt bikes, a human rocket and a comedy trio, this state of the art circus is primed to wow you. If you like acrobatics and aerials, music, laughs and thr ills, buckle up, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey are bringing their reimaged circus to us!

If it's a good laugh you are looking for, look no further than these Boston area comedy spots:

Has the world got you hiding under the covers? Turn off the news and turn up the laughs. Now, more than ever we need a little comic relief. I have long been a fan of going to see live comics. It's really the best night out with friends. Grab some food, raise a glass and chuckle the night away. Check out these 8 comedy clubs in Boston to get your laugh on.

There was a time that Boston had a booming comedy seen. The Comedy Connection at Faneuil Hall was a favorite for many years before it sold. There was Duck Soup in the theatre district, and countless other spots to see the talented artists who bring tears to our eyes. Tears of laughter, of course. Well, it certainly seems as though the comedy scene around here is back and booming.

Laughter Is An Instant Vacation

Comedic legend Milton Berle said "laughter is an instant vacation." No doubt about it, laughter is good for the soul. Don't you love it when you have been laughing and smiling so much your cheeks hurt? It turns out laughter really is the best medicine. According to the world renowned Mayo Clinic, it has benefits long beyond the short-term. And the benefits are both physical and mental. From muscle relaxation to stress relief, organ stimulation to improving our immune system, laughing is no joke. It has serious advantages to your overall health.

So where to get your laugh on. There are quite a few spots in and around Boston. And actually, you'll many venues throughout New England. But here are a few of my favorite spots to catch stand-up comedy and improvisational comedy. When visitors ask me what to do in Boston, I generally point them in the direction of a comedy show. Leave them laughing, that's what I say. Thanks to Time Out Boston for the inspiration to share some "laughable" spots. Check Out These 7 Comedy Clubs In Boston To Get Your Laugh On

1. Comedy Connection At The Wilbur Theater

246 Tremont St, Boston

After the Comedy Connection at Faneuil Hall closed, the Wilbur picked up their bookings. In 2008 the Comedy Connection moved the Wilbur Theater in Boston's theater district. The 1914 Federal style theatre is big, but not too big to feel the intimacy of a stand up show. And they get some of the biggest names in comedy. For example, Pete Davidson and Dane Cook are both on the books for next month.

2. Laugh Boston

425 Summer Street, Boston at the Westin Boston Seaport Hotel

Unlike the set up of the Wilbur, which is a true theater, Laugh Boston is set up, inside the Westin, to feel more like a comedy club. It has food and a full bar with wait service for each table. You can see some big names in stand-up, comic writers and new comedians. There are plenty of SNL alums featured too.  Like all the places listed here, it's best to get your tickets in advance, because they fill up fast.

3. The Comedy Studio

70 Union Square, Somerville

The Comedy Studio is on the move again. It was originally in Harvard Square, moved to Somerville's Union Square and will soon be open in Harvard Square once again! Follow their social media to keep up with updates. Shows will be added soon! The Comedy Studio is a locally run group that mixes classic improv with stand-up and features new talent and veterans. Late Night with Conan O’Brien’s producer Frank Smiley called it “The Greatest Comedy Club on Earth."

4. Improv Asylum

216 Hanover St. Boston (North End)

It's really a perfect place to see a show. In the heart of the North End is a small "basement" club with sketch comedy and improvisational comedy. You really get bang for your buck at Improv Asylum, especially considering your extensive dining options before or after a show. You can chose to be a part of the show, or stay quiet. They will ask for participants. I love this place.

5. Nick's Comedy Stop

100 Warrenton St. Boston

Described as a "no-frills theater with a full bar" Nick's has been entertaining comedy fans since 1977!  You can always count on a good time at Nick's. I mean, there is a reason it's been around forever!

6. The Rozzie Square Theatre

5 Basile St #2501, Roslindale

They serve up plenty of laughs at the Rozzie Square Theater. Located in the heart of Roslindale, you can take an improv class here or catch a stand-up show. According to their website, the theater was born in May of 2018. CSz Boston and Riot Improv came together and a baby was born...The Rozze Square Theater. "The theater is the only brick-and-mortar comedy club in Boston owned by a Woman and Asian American."

In May 2018, CSz Boston and Riot Improv collaborated to open The Rozzie Square Theater, rooting Roslindale as the officialThe theater is the only brick-and-mortar comedy club in Boston owned by a Woman and Asian American.

7. Giggles Comedy Club

517 Broadway, Saugus

The house that Lenny Clark built is still standing tall and packing them in for 35 years. You'll find it right there on Route 1 inside a North Shore icon, Prince's Pizzeria. You can't miss the leaning tower of Pisa replica outside! They draw a great collection of local and national talent. The giggles are plentiful.
