Massachusetts: Upper Deck Golf Coming To Fenway Park
If you’ve ever dreams of hitting balls deep into center field at Fenway Park, you are in luck. Upper Deck Golf will take over the venue for a weekend this summer.
From Friday August 16 to Monday August 19, Fenway will become a golf stadium. Specifically, this is a 9-hole course set up inside the park.
Players are arranged into foursomes and will compete by attempting the full 9-hole course. “Shots landing on the designated green will result in a par, off the green is a bogey, within the inner circle around the pin is a birdie, and a lucky few may even score a hole-in-one,” Fenway Park explained.
Upon registration, you will be entitled to receive 18 golf balls during your event day. This is so that each player is allotted two balls per hole. There’s is also a VIP registration option where you are given addition golf balls, 22 of them in total. In terms of clubs, you are welcome to bring your own or can utilize the sets that will be shared and available at the park. No driver clubs will be allowed, however.
What Else Does Upper Deck Golf Fenway Entail?
There will be various food options available according to your start time. Children ages 12 years-old and up are eligible to partake. “A typical round of golf will take around 90 minutes; however, you’ll start and end your round at the clubhouse festival – so you are welcome to stay and enjoy the great music, cold beers, food and multiple golfing challenges with your friends or family,” Fenway continues.
You can arrive at Fenway Park 30 minutes early to get situated and check in. Then, an official Upper Deck employee will escort you and your group to your starting hole.
The Red Sox during this stretch will be in the midst of a seven-game road trip. This starts in Baltimore to take on the Orioles and then on to Houston to battle the defending champion Astros.
Also in August at Fenway Park you will find some exciting concerts taking place. Prior to golf balls landing in center field, some big-name bands will be rocking in centerfield. Def Leppard, Journey, and Heart will play on August 5th. Two days later, is Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid show on August 7th.
