New England's longest-running Renaissance fair is embracing a new era in a new location.
For close to five decades, King Richard's Faire has brought thousands of people to Carver. The fair was held at a large park off Main Street during that time. The event's new home in Edaville, at the Edaville Family Theme Park, will be only five minutes from its original location.
Organizers of King Richard's Faire now own the theme park property, a factor prompting the fair's move from Carver to Edaville.
"Everyone's pitching in because they want to make the best of this," explained King Richard's Faire General Manager Aimee Shapiro Sedley in an interview with NBC10 News WJAR-TV. “You know KRF 2.0. We are moving on to bigger and better and more exciting things.”
Vendors and staff said they received only a few days' notice to pack up and prepare to relocate.
For merchants like Kerry Dunn, the relocation is bittersweet, given the history and memories made in Carver with her family over the years.
King Richard's Faire organizers said they plan to create an entertainment district in Edaville, uniting the fair's uniqueness with the family fun of a community rail park.
King Richard's Faire will return in the late summer for a first season in its new Edaville home.
