Statue of Liberty on the background of flag usa, sunrise and fireworks

Looking for the best places to celebrate 4th of July this year? You’re going to have to travel outside New England.

A recent survey done by personal finance website WalletHub has Boston at #28 for the best places to celebrate 4th of July. So much for the Boston Tea Party and the Shot Heard Round the World, eh?

While American history didn’t appear to come into play with WalletHub’s survey, they looked at the 100 largest U.S. cities based on how well they balanced holiday costs and fun.

21 key metrics ranged from average beer and wine prices to duration of fireworks displays to Fourth of July weather forecasts.

So where then are the places to be this Independence Day weekend?

Luckily a few of them are driving distance from the Boston area, if you’re so inclined.
