Garfield is known for movies like Spiderman and The Social Network and even earned an Academy Award nomination for his role in Hacksaw Ridge. This week, however, people are more focused on the actor’s conversation with the beloved Sesame Street character, Elmo.
You know Elmo, he’s always checking in with his neighbors on Sesame Street to see how they’re doing. Elmo is a long time mental health advocate, and when he asked Andrew Garfield how he’s doing, things got real.

Andrew Garfield and Elmo Discuss Death
Andrew’s mother, Lynn Garfield, passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2019. Andrew admitted, “I’m just thinking about my mum today. I just miss her. I miss her a lot.”
I think we can all relate to Andrew’s feeling, but how many of us ever express them? Even more importantly, have you ever considered the sadness related to a death to be a good thing? Andrew said that missing his “mum” is bittersweet, stating:
“When I miss her, I remember it’s because she made me so happy.
