The Conners Debuts Tomorrow, But Will You Be Watching?
ABC executives admit they had a knee jerk reaction with the firing of Roseanne from her own show, so now, how do we all move forward?
It seems as if maybe, just maybe, execs are having some doubts on their spin-off attempt, The Conners which premieres Tuesday night at 8pm on ABC.

According to a review from the Star Tribune, they’re giving it a 4.5 out of 5:
““Laughing inappropriately is what Mom taught us to do,” says older daughter Becky (Lecy Goranson) in Tuesday’s premiere. Goranson, often overshadowed by her castmates in the show’s original run, finally gets to do more than bicker with younger sis Darlene (the perfectly sardonic Sara Gilbert), especially in scenes that reveal a drinking problem. Her performance is the show’s most pleasant surprise. What shouldn’t come as a shock is how sharp the rest of the cast remains, particularly John Goodman as a grieving Dan, and Laurie Metcalf as flustered sister Jackie. A scene in which Jackie edges toward the breaking point while rearranging the kitchen just might earn her a fourth Emmy.”
While that seems fairly positive given low fan expectations, The New York Post title alone leads to worry: “‘The Conners’ may not last without Roseanne.”
But, in all honesty, will that much truly be different? Sure, Roseanne was the title character but as the series went on the show really became out all of the family. So, if you’re willing to give it a chance, it just might be as good as the reboot season was last Fall.
