Time for another addition of Ben’s Songs You Need To Hear. Thank you for checking back for this week’s installment.
As you know, I handle the afternoon shift on Country 102.5, but I also serve as the station’s music director. It is my responsibility to curate our music selection and stay on top of all of the latest hits that are coming out of Nashville. Therefore, I think that you’ll love the songs that I am keeping an eye (and an ear on). Let’s get into it!
Dierks Bentley - "She Hates Me"
Dierks Bentley has an album being released later on this year, and we just got the first single from it. He dropped “She Hates Me,” an anti-love anthem on Valentine’s Day (coincidence?) I am not sure if it was intentional, but to me the song resembles the big hit from Puddle of Mudd of the same title. I think it’s a very fun song – a party song if you will, and Dierks says he loves putting those types of songs out. A great first single from him, excited to see what else is to come!
Thomas Rhett - "After All The Bars Are Closed"
Thomas Rhett is one a roll when it comes to number ones, and this is most likely his next one. “After All The Bars Are Closed” was released on his latest album over the past summer, but he just dropped a new ‘country-fied’ remix if you will. It really strips the song down to its roots, and to me it’s a lot smoother. I really like it!
Vincent Mason - "Wish You Well"
This is another song that just came out on Friday from country newcomer Vincent Mason. It’s called “Wish You Well.” He has a fantastic voice that is familiar but fresh, and he’s ending his tour in Boston this summer at the MGM Music Hall!
