Meet Mariah Rose from Taunton, MA

It’s been a minute since Mariah Rose made music. She took a hiatus from writing and singing to focus on other things, specifially, her health and wellness. Competing in body building competitions, learning about nutrition and overall wellness gave her the edge she needed in life, and ultimately in music.

Five years after Mariah put music away, she’s back. The singer/songwriter from Tauton feels the timing is right and the song to re-enter the music world is a perfect fit. “Young Girl” is a letter to the artist’s younger self. The song starts with a slow progression, as if the narrator is taking baby steps, before building and soaring into some long, strong vocal strides. There are spoken inspirational messages in between vocals in the climax.

Clearly, the break served this artist well. Mariah is a strong singer with a penchant for inspiring others. She hopes her song serves as a reminder to the listener that every step taken in life is meant to lead you to the here and now. It’s the journey that we will undoubtedly rememeber, and certainly learn from most.

Mariah wrote “Young Girl” with George Varetimos who also produced the song. She relayed, “Once I heard the beginning music George wrote, young girl immediately popped into my head. “Young Girl” has a rock-n-roll feel with a country edge. The song is a message to my younger self. A reminder that situations and events will happen in ways that I didn’t expect them to but no matter what, I’m proud of who I am because everything that has happened lead me to who I am today. I let go of music for around 5 years and since bringing it back into my life, everything just seemed to make sense again. It’s the perfect song to have as my debut single because it’s a pure example of everything that I was and am today. My hope is that the song will be relatable to the listeners not only females but males as well. The overall message is what I hope the listeners take away.”

Push play to hear “Young Girl.”

    Current single: “Young Girl”

What lead you to music: I was drawn to music at a very young age. No matter if I was singing into a hairbrush or a real microphone, it gave me comfort and was always an outlet to express myself and what I was feeling at any given moment.

How old when you started: I started singing at a very young age for my family and started to be involved in school chorus and drama club around 3rd grade throughout my senior year of college. I took vocal lessons from 10 years old into college as well.

First country song you learned: ”Man! I Feel Like a Woman” Shania Twain.

    Instruments played: Voice and guitar.

How would you describe your sound: Soulful, country-pop with some rock influence.

Who inspires you: My parents. They push me to be the best artist and person that I possibly can. Musical influences are Maren Morris, Martina McBride, and Miranda Lambert.

Dream duet partner: Toss-up between Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow or a combination of all 3!

All- time favorite country songs: “Breathe” Faith Hill, “Friends in Low Places” Garth Brooks, and “Live Like You Were Dying” Tim McGraw.

First country concert: Rascal Flatts 2007.

What songs do you like now on Country 1025: “Ghost Story” Carrie Underwood.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: I would say my regular day job but there are so many dreams that I have on my bucket list! One of them being to own my own restaurant.

Day Job: Finance manager for a general contractor of trade shows/corporate events.

Most proud moment: Not giving up on my dreams no matter how long I lost sight of them for.

Other things you like to do: Within the 5 years that I took off from music, I got very involved with fitness and competed in some bodybuilding competitions. Although I don’t complete anymore, the gym is another home for me! I also enjoy walks with my pup Brody, cooking, and kayaking.

Fun facts: I’m a HUGE foodie and love trying new meals/cuisines. I’ve been dairy-free for going on 3 years and mostly plant-based for a little over 2 years now.

Mantra: Good things come to those who wait.
