Meet Rob Randlett and The EXP Band

Rob’s time in the army likely taught him discipline, and perseverence. This singer/songwriter has certainly soldiered through musical ups and downs, genres and towns. First, inspired by hip-hop and rock, eventually Randlett found his sweet spot in the country music genre. But there’s no denying those early influences when you listen to his latest release, “Whiskey Makes Me.” It’s a guitar driven rocker that could drive you to the dance floor.

The bar band vibe is of this band is clear. And the message is; Have a good time! There’s a chemistry in their camraderie, like brothers in arms. Their weapons in battle, guitars, vocals, and drums. Together, this band of brothers has peformed all  over New England, opening for some big names like LoCash, Toby Keith, Tyler Farr and Michael Ray. Rob has also performed the National Anthem for the Boston Bruins, Professional Bull Riders and the Manchester Monarchs.

According to Rob, this song just came together organically. He says, “As soon as we started writing we knew it was gonna be fun! “Whiskey Makes Me” is a song that’s just fun!”

    • Taking the leap: I spent my youth in Wilmington Massachusetts. I rode my bike everywhere, fished and swam in the river and listened to all genres of music. I moved and attended high school in Raymond New Hampshire. I was listening to rock and hip hop at that time. After high school I joined the Army as a Fuel Specialist. I served from 1995-2003. When I returned home, I found myself going to see bands at local venues. I really enjoyed watching live music and I decided that was something I’d like to do. I was 30 years old and I wanted to have a great story to tell my grandkids. I hung around those bands and asked questions all about how they got started and their experiences. I soon joined a rock band and we practiced every Friday night. After a while, the band split up and I went in a different direction. It was at this point I started playing country music.
