What’s your go-to country karaoke song? It may be one that drove you to the dance floor back in the day. Or perhaps it’s your new favorite. It could even be a song that has a story you connect with. Most importantly is it a song that showcases your insane vocal abilities? I asked around work, asked our social media followers and used a popular list I found online to come up with a comprehensive list.  And THESE are the country karaoke songs you need to sing!

The ranking website, ranker.com, has a sweeping catalog of country karaoke songs choices. Categories are based on where you live, your age and gender. But, nationally the top songs, according to your votes on the ranker.com website, are listed here! Included are results of our social media poll, as well.

It’s All About The Choices You Make

You may want to take notes or print up the list for your next karaoke night. I believe a good choice is to pick a song that isn’t too sad, isn’t too long and you know will get the crowd singing along. I’d stay away from songs like “The Dance” by Garth Brooks. Sure, many of us are familiar with it, but it’s a bit of a downer and on the longer side -close to 4 minutes long. Songs that are way out of your range should be avoided, unless you are going to “talk-sing” them. My husband was notorious for this. It does work well though when singing Johnny Cash.

Most of the songs on the list are simply good, old, sing-a-long songs. You know, the kind on tunes on road trips that have everyone in the car belting it out at the top of their lungs? #1 on this list exemplifies a car jam song, and the same with #7 on the list. So, warm up those vocal chords because these are the country karaoke songs you need to sing!

  • 1. Take Me Home Country Roads- John Denver

On any given night at Loretta’s Last Call, you will hear this one belted out by the crowd. It’s such a great sing-a-long, which truly makes the karaoke experience easier (not all the pressure is on you), and much more fun! Although, John Denver was more of a pop artist at the time, this song is country to the core.

  • 2. Friends In Low Places-Garth Brooks

You knew this one would rank high. It’s likely the most iconic country karaoke song ever! Invite everyone to join in on the chorus to this 1991 #1 smash, and the song that made Garth Brooks a superstar!

  • 3. All My Exes Live in Texas-George Strait

Of course George Strait made the top 5! I mean, it seems like every current country song pays homage to the King. And if you’re a guy trying to get the attention of a girl, you gotta go with the great George Strait. You will melt hearts, even if you are singing about your exes.

  • 4. Wagon Wheel - Darius Rucker or Old Crow Medicine Show

Whether you chose the original or the 2013 remake by Darius Rucker, everyone will appreciate this choice. And it’s a great story song, so act it out, while you’re singing “I’m thumbin’ my way into North Caroline, Starin’ up the road and pray to God I see headlights…”

  • 5. I Walk The Line- Johnny Cash

If you are going for the cool factor, this is your song! Nobody is cooler than Johnny Cash. And if your vocals are super strong, you can always talk this one out. Make a like a Walker Hayes and the crowd will go wild.

  • 6. The Gambler- Kenny Rogers

Apparently, classic country is extremely popular as a karaoke choice, because there’s a lot on the full list from Ranker. But this song transcends generations, and again, is a great sing-a-long. And if your voice is on the lower register, this is a perfect choice.

  • 7. Chicken Fried- Zac Brown Band

Fan favorite! Everybody knows this one, whether they are a country music fan or not. It’s fun, upbeat and hey, you’re singing about food. What’s not to love about this 2008 #1  Zac Brown Band hit?

  • 8. Jolene- Dolly Parton

Ok let’s just start with this…If you choose this iconic Dolly diddy, you really have to be able to sing. No faking it with this one. But, if you pull it off…WOW! You will have the crowd in the palm of your hand. Good luck. BTW, Miley Cyrus, Dolly’s Goddaughter, does an insanely good version of this song.

  • 9. I Love This Bar- Toby Keith

Back in the mid 2000s you couldn’t go to a karaoke night without hearing this Big Dog Daddy gem. It features a crowd of singers in the chorus, making this 2003 smash hit a great choice for fan involvment. Plus, you don’t have to be a strong singer to pull this one off.

  • 10. Before He Cheats- Carrie Underwood

Get your girlfriends to hit the stage with you on this one, so you can point out guys in the crowd to sing to. It’s got the sass factor times 10, and will really showcase your voice. Have fun with Carrie’s 2006 signature hit.

  • 11. Man, I Feel Like A Woman- Shania Twain

Since we are getting sassy, let’s get some Shania on the list! Any of her songs would work to get the girls in the crowd joining in, and the boys excited. This 1997 mega-crossover hit requires lots of  acting on stage to really get the vibe across.

  • 12. Picture- Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow

Every great karoke night needs a duet! And this is the perfect song to spar back and forth on stage, exchanging vocals, glances and intentions. Kid and Crow took this to the top in 2001. You can too!

  • 13, Tennessee Whiskey- Chris Stapleton

He wasn’t the first to sing this, and won’t be the last. But, he’s likely the best. It’s hard to come close to Stapleton’s version a song made famous first  by David Allan Coe, and later, George Jones. But if you can pull it off, the ladies will go wild.

  • 14. Dirt Road Anthem- Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean’s 1991 #1 smash gives you a chance to flex your rapping skills. His signature hit is a great choice if the high notes are your thing, but your performance game is. The song was actually a Brantley Gilbert creation, but Jason made it his own and included it on his My Kinda Party album. When performing this one, keep in mind there are a lot of words to squeeze in a short time during the rap portion. So, you may want to hold off on the next beer until after you sing it.

  • 15. Should've Been A Cowboy - Toby Keith

Toby Keith was always a hugely popular artist, scoring 54  top 40 hits. 40 of those went top 10 and 20 went all the way to #1! Since his untimely death at just 62 years old, he seems to be more popular than ever. I feel like I’m hearing his music everywhere now, more than ever before. You’ll see famous artists all over social media singing his songs. Post Malone recently did a cover of “As Good As I Once Was” live on stage at one of his shows. Meanwhile there are countless covers of “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” that surfaced since his passing. Our listener poll revealed his first #1 was the best choice for country karaoke. Feel free to hold up a Red Solo Cup while singing along with Toby’s 1993 debut (and first #1), “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
