My Husband Left Our Baby With A Random Woman At The Mall For 90 Minutes To Go To The Apple Store
Shaina found out from a woman in the neighborhood that her husband took their child to the mall and left the baby with her so he could go to the Apple Store. And he didn’t come back for 90 minutes. Shaina barely knows this woman, so she is concerned that her husband would leave the baby with her. She also doesn’t know why it takes 90 minutes to go the Apple Store. What would you do if your husband left your baby with a relative stranger?
Jonathan: Today for panic button, we have Shaina. Hey, Shaina.
Shaina: Hey. Good morning.
Jonathan: So your problem that you’re calling us about is that your husband dumped your kid off with a relative stranger. What happened?
Shaina: Well, I work during the day and he works from home but mostly takes care of our son who’s two. I found out that he had gone to the indoor playground at the mall and took my son to play. So that that part is fine to get out of the house, and go do something.
Ayla: Sure.
Shaina: But I found out that he left him and went shopping.
Jonathan: He left him at the playground.
Ayla: How old is he?
Shaina: Well, he’s two. And he ran into a mutual friend of ours. And the friend told me that he asked if she could watch our son while he just went to an Apple Store appointment. Because he said, you know how little kids are in the Apple Store. They grab things.
Ayla: They’re a nightmare, but still.
Shaina: And so she agreed to look after him. But he didn’t come back for an hour and a half. What was he doing all that time? Did he go have lunch or what. You know?
Ayla: Like pop in a Foot Locker for a hot second, and check out the new Jordan’s they have?
Jonathan: She’s not exaggerating at all? She said it was an hour and a half before he came back. Yeah, it’s just that she was mad.
Shaina: Well, she was kind of mad, but she was also like, what was he doing? He didn’t say, can you watch them for an hour and a half? It sounded like it was going to be 15 minutes.
Ayla: He didn’t specify. I’m not saying this is right, by the way, but he probably didn’t know. No one knows when it’s going to take an hour and a half at the Apple Store.
Jonathan: Yeah.
Ayla: Wouldn’t you rather your kid to be playing with someone that he knows? Because it sounds like this is a mutual friend. So if she has a kid there and the son is there, they can play together and get the energy out while he’s just shopping.
Jonathan: But he’s going to the Apple Store because I assume his phone was not working. Right?
Shaina: Something like that. Yeah.
Jonathan: So she couldn’t call him or text him like, hey, where the hell are you? On top of that, you go to the Apple Store. They go look at your phone or whatever. You can say, hey, I need to go real quick. And then you go back to the playground. The fact that he didn’t do that is insane.
Ayla: I’m not disagreeing with you, but also the mother of the other kid. If she really needed to leave, could have taken the child to the Apple store.
Jonathan: I guess so. I don’t know. He must have been doing something also. He had to be. I’ve been to the Apple store so many times. I’ve never had an appointment take an hour and a half.
Ayla: Maybe if they were running late. I don’t know.
Jonathan: And if it did, I would just go back to the playground.
Ayla: I’m not saying I justify this because I would never leave my son with someone.
Jonathan: I think he’s cheating on you, Shaina.
Ayla: Oh no no, no.
Jonathan: What did he say? It was just that the Apple store?
Shaina: Yeah. He didn’t mention anything else.
Jonathan: Okay.
Ayla: He didn’t mention he was cheating on her. The question, though, is it okay to leave your child?
Jonathan: Of course.
Ayla: With someone that you know.
Jonathan: How can you know this woman?
Ayla: And she consented. She said, sure. Leave him with me.
Jonathan: I guess most people would be nice enough to do that. How well do you know her?
Shaina: Just like an acquaintance.
Ayla: Okay, okay.
