Famous for his roles in The Hunger Games, Vikings, Lone Survivor and Bad Boys For Life, actor Alexander Ludwig has a new starring role. Ludwig, the singer/songwriter, released his debut album today.  The country music artist has been singing and writing most of life, and is finally able to embrace this side of his artistry. His solo debut, Highway 99, is a nod to his upbringing in Vancouver, Canada. The family roadtrips were pivital to shaping this artist’s sound.

Listen here, as Alexander shares stories about his love of Boston, his movies and TV shows, and of course, about the album. He had one of those rare lightning-in a-bottle moments that lead to his album coming together and finding a Nashville record label. The album was written and recorded in Music City in between his crazy filming schedule.  It was a chance encounter on one of the flights between Hollywood and Nashville that changed his life.

Ludwig’s resume as an actor is quite impressive. There’s a long list of movies and tv show. He started in the business when he was just a kid. In fact, his first job was in the movie Air Bud 2: World Pup (as an uncredited actor). Take a look at a few of Alexander’s many screen credits listed below.

  • MOVIE: Grown Ups 2

This gem was filmed in Boston (thank you, New Englanders Adam Sandler and Kevin James), and it’s where Alexander fell in love with our city, as he told me in our chat above. He was only around 19years old when he filmed in the Boston area. He played the role of Braden, who was the son of David Spade’s character.

  • MOVIE: Lone Survivor

Tackling the role of real life United States Navy Seal Shane Patton in 2013’s Lone Survivor must of been challenging, but an honor for Alexander. Shane Patton was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005.

  • MOVIE: The Hunger Games

Ludwig played bad guy Cato in The Hunger Games. Cato was the leader of the Career pack, and the male tribute from District 2, in the 74th Hunger Games, acccording to Fandom.   His character was the deadliest tribute and rival tJennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, He really loved playing this kind of a meaty role, as he told me in our interview. It was filmed before Grown Ups 2, so Ludwig was only 18.

  • MOVIE: Bad Boys For Life

Alexander played Dorn in the Will Smith/Martin Lawerence 2020 film.

  • TV: Vikings

Ludwig starred on the popular TV show that originated on The History Channel, and then Amazon Prime  from 2014 -2020. He played the charater, Bjorn Lothbrok. Intelligent and determined, Bjorn loves and admires his father above all men. Following in Ragnar’s footsteps, Bjorn desires to test himself as a fighter as well as an explorer. After fighting in battle without receiving one wound or scratch, he garnered the famous nickname ‘Bjorn Ironside.’

  • TV: Heels

You may have seen Alexander currently starring as Ace Spade on the Starz network series, Heels. The TV show is based on the world of wrestling and all the drama and politics that surround it. Ace is one of the main characters. Fandom says, Ludwig’s character Ace, is “a beloved hero (in the ring) and star of the DWL. However, it is outside the ring where he struggles to reconcile his town idol status with his insecurities and demons. Matched with his brash, cocky and self-destructive nature, Ace is destined for the big leagues so long as he can keep it together.

  • COMING SOON: A Niki Minaj Music Video?

That’s right, Ludwig takes on a less prominant role, to play alongside hip hop star Niki Minaj in he new music video. And the internet is all abuzz.
