It’s human nature to make comparisons. With that said, looking at the photos of Anna Daley Young, reading her story and hearing her song, “Wanna Be Your Girl, ” I can’t get comparisons of Daisy Jones and the Six out of my head.  The popular Amazon Prime series stars Elvis’ grandaughter, Riley Keough who bares a resemblence, physically and vocally to Anna. This Massachusetts singer/songwriter is the real deal. She won The Voice Of Plymouth singing competition last year, and is set to release her debut full-length album. Here, you can get to know my Local Catch of the Week: Anna Daley Young from Boston.

Learn more about Anna Daley Young, find out where to see her, and how to follow her on social media, below. The model by day has had music on the brain since she was very young. It’s a family affair and passion, which led Young to pursue musical theater in school. Her vocals are alluring and her lyrics are delivered with an empassioned genuineness. What more could you want in an artist? Honesty, passion and talent are key ingredients in the making of a star. And Anna seems to have the recipe down. I can’t wait to hear more from this shining star in the making.

  • The Music

Anna’s new single is: “Wanna Be Your Girl.”  She said it’s a “confessional song, a story about a young girl who finally finds the courage to put her heart into a song and tell the person she loves how she really feels. This song was written late at night in my room. I sent it to my producer Sean as soon as I finished it and it ended up being the lead single off the album.

    • Lives in: Boston
    • Current single: “Wanna Be your Girl” (single). Available HERE
    • Full album : Go My Own Way -coming May 26th
    • What led you to music: My dad is a musician so music has always been around me. He says “I’ve always had a guitar in my hand” but I can remember himteaching me a few chords on guitar when I was around 10-12 years old. Those chords eventually became my first song “Fall”
    •  How long have you been performing: I was in drama and theater as a kid and from time to time I performed with my dad’s band, but performing solo out in the world with my guitar – it’s been about 2 years now! Things have been going really well!
    • First country song you learned: Honky Tonk Girl by Loretta Lynn
    • How would you describe your sound: Somewhere in between Folk and Country/pop
    • Who inspires you: Elvis, Lana Del Rey Loretta Lynn, Taylor Swift. AND…Freddie Mercury. The movie Bo-RAP changed my life and was one of the driving forces that inspired me to chase my dreams! I have a poster of him in my room.
    • Awards/accolades: I won the 2022 THE VOICE OF PLYMOUTH competition!
    • Dream duet partner: Kacey Musgraves or Tay Swift
    • All- time favorite country song: Currently, my favorite country song is “Thought You Should Know” by Morgan Whalen. I playthis one live all the time!
    • First country concert: My first ever concert was the “Speak Now” TOUR at Gillette stadium in 2011.
    • If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: I got my cosmetology License in high school and worked at the 1604 hair salon for about a year and a half after I graduated. If I never went full time with singing and modeling I probably would still be there!
    • Day Job: I’m signed with Maggie Inc in boston. I model for companies all over Boston and the greater area in VT, ME, NH, RI. I’ve met so many creative people through the industry, a lot of the connections I make spill over into the music world.I met one of my best friends and my favorite photographer Steph working on set. She came to Nashville with me to help capture my musical journey, Steph shot the “Wanna Be Your Girl” cover art.
    • Most proud moment: When I released the ticket link for my album release party, VIP sold out on the first day, I couldn’t believe it. I’m so thankful for all my friends, family and fans that support me. We are on our way to selling out! General Admission tickets are still available, you can find them here. Hope to see you there!  I’m really proud of myself for overcoming my fear of stage fright. When I was younger I was terrified to sing in front of others. A fond memory I have is singing in my middle school talent show called “Abigail Idol”. I was nervous for weeks, but then as soon as the talent show was over I called my dad and said “I DID IT!”. We were both really proud. I sang “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”
    • Crazy thing that happened in your music career: Most Recently, probably winning the VOICE of Plymouth competition, I did not think I even had the chance to win. Everyone came with support groups and fans, I actually came alone. Then somehow, I ended up leaving with the $500 prize. When they had me up on stage I said “You guys want to know what to do with this money? I’m booking myself a flight to Nashville”. I went a month later
    • Other things you like to do: Nature walks/ hiking, meditating, yoga, and camping, painting, creating vision boards, laughing with my friends, traveling
    • Fun facts : I was a gymnast from the time I was 2 -till about 20. I have 3 cats, Toby, Ziggy and Harley, and I have a younger brother named Joe!
    • Mantra: Don’t Rush, just trust!
