The first time I heard “Liam Coleman sing he was just 16 years old. Here’s what I wrote about the high school junior, at the time: “Liam has built a shining confidence. Whether it’s taking on songs by some of his heroes, or taking on the task of writing his own, this young man does it with an affection, dedication, and maturity well beyond his years on earth.” Just 16 years old, and he left that impression on me. Since then, Liam left Massachusetts and high school for the bright lights and big dreams of Nashville. There. he has been writing, singing and performing all over town, and the country. Meet my Local Catch of the Week, Liam Coleman from Charlton, MA.
One high school diploma, a few birthdays, many miles logged on tour later, and Liam has has made Nashville his home. He’s recorded and released 5 singles, is working on an EP and signed with a managment company. The air of confidence in this artist can’t be missed. But do not mistake it for arrogance. Coleman has earned his confidence because he’s been at the game for so long, and is still so young.
Embracing the current rash of rock driven country, Liam has found his niche. His gravel-toned voice is so well suited for the rock side of his love of country. His songwriting continues to impress. A listen to his latest, “Wishing You,” will have you wishing for more. It’s guitar-driven, rock-tinged music and seriously clever lyrics are infectious. If Luke Combs and Miranda Lambert had a baby…well, you get the point. This singer/songwriter has come so far in such a short time. I can’t wait to hear what Coleman creates next. Stay tuned.
