On occasion I have described some artists as genre neutral. That type of artist can bounce from one type of music to another. But when trying to describe the music of Mike Forgette, I’d have to say he and his band are more genre benders. They have a wide lane in which they drive their reggae influenced sound. Depending on the mood of the song, that road may bend to rock, hip-hop or country.
Mike and Over the Bridge started their journey in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 2014, when a local establishment needed a band last minute and asked Mike if he could put something together to fill the slot. Each of the band members brought influences and experience to the table. The result is a completely unique and wildly refreshing sound. Sparks fly when Marley meets Hunt (Sam, that is), and Sprinsteen meets Chesney. What a wonderful world it would be…and is, thanks artisty that isn’t afraid to bend, and embraces story telling. Whatever that sounds like.
