Kruser’s Local Catch

He’s back. And honestly, with each new Patrick Kearns’ song it just gets better. The Three Years Gone front man has a blooming country solo career. You can tell by all the gigs he’s got lined up and plenty of new music. This New England artist has a full schedule. He’s set to release 3 new songs by the end of the year, and will be playing in Nashville every other month next year. But for now, my Local Catch of the Week, Patrick Kearns from Weymouth just has one hot new single for you to hear.

The new release, “In The Moment,” is just what this summer, and this world, needs. It’s uplifting, it’s well written and the vocals are dynamic. In fact, listening to the first few lines I was taken aback. For a moment, I thought I was listening to Darius Rucker. Patrick told me he has been greatly influenced by Rucker’s sound and style. The impact of the Grammy winning rocker and country star is certainly evident.

Hear the new music and get to know my Local Catch of the Week, Patrick Kearns from Weymouth, below. He enlisted some star power for the new single, and explains the motivation behind it. Powerhouse vocals, relevant and inspirational lyrics help to elevate this song. Kearns’ A-game is on. This is a next level, career=making kind of moment for the gifted singer and songwriter. Soak it in, Patrick. Enjoy all that is in the moment.

  • The Music

“In the Moment” was written solely by Patrick Kearns. But he explained it felt like such a collaborative effect after enlisting producer Corey Paza at Allster Studios and fiddle player Siobhan Cronin. Siobhan is the violinist for the band, Starset. They have one of the biggest rock songs in the country, a collaboration with Breaking Benjamin called, “Waiting on the Sky to Change.”

The song is about being present in the moment. As Kearns’ put it, “the inspiration came from the idea not getting caught up in the past or the future. It’s about crackin’ a beer, having fun with your friends. Gettin’ it going. Turning it all up to 10. I hope it resonates with others like it did for me.”

    • How old when you started: I started playing guitar about a decade ago on and off but I just in the last few years started to take it very serious.
    • First country song you learned: Jason Aldean – My kinda party
    • Instruments played: Guitar, Bass and Drums.
    • How would you describe your sound: My sound is a combination of everything that’s inspired me. Started with Rock. Shifted to Pop and now it has a Country vibe to it. No matter what genre of music you like I’ll have something for everyone.
    • Who inspires you: Darius Rucker, Jelly Roll, Tom Petty, Chris Cornell,  Dave Grohl, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton
    • Dream duet partner: I’d love to work with Jelly Roll or Darius Rucker
    • All- time favorite country song: Don’t think I don’t think about it – Darius Rucker
    • First country concert: Taylor Swift actually lol Darius Rucker after that was what got me more into it.
    • What songs do you like now on Country 1025: a guy with a girl – Blake Sheldon and American Kids – Kenny Chesney
    • If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: Can’t even imagine that anymore.
    • Most proud moment: Anytime I can go on stage and get a reaction from a crowd is a proud moment. The best is yet to come.
    • Crazy thing that happened in your music career: Getting to open for Easton Corbin earlier in the year at the Historic Park Theatre in RI and having him ask how my set went after the show.
    • Other things you like to do: If I’m not doing music there’s a good chance I’m listening to it. Running my podcast “Big Mouth Small Words” or hanging with my family.
    • Fun facts: I’m also known as “The Big Scary Man Guy”- where I am dressed as a Viking and root for the Boston Bruins. I run a podcast called “Big Mouth Small Words”. It’s a mental health podcast to help motivate like minded individuals looking for more. I love the process of progress. Accomplishing something is amazing but I enjoy the grind it takes to get there just as much as the accolade at the end.
