Kruser’s Local Catch

If you don’t know the name Ry F.M. you should. And you may actually already know him without knowing him. Confused. Ry is a talented Boston based singer, songwriter, musician and producer. He has a couple of different bands and is an award winning artist. Here, you will get to know my Local Catch of the Week, Ry F.M. from Boston.

Raised in Norfolk, Massachusetts and now living and working in the Boston area, Ry grew up in a musical family. He shared that his memories of music at home made him want to pursue it as a career. Listening to his latest single, it’s clear music has had a home in his heart for a long time. He’s been playing and performing for most of his life. Listen to Ry F.M.’s new song below and you can feel his joy at making his craft.

Fall With Me

“Fall With Me” is everything you want a song to be. It’s melodic and moving. And it tells a story and expresses a feeling we can all certainly relate to. When a song makes you want to listen closer for the next bridge, or to hear how it all will end, that’s a success story.

Ry’s folky pop vocals are spot on. You will fall for how the song builds from a soft place to a guitar heavy climax, then cools off again. It’s like an aerobic journey. And all along the way you feel like you’ve been there before.

You may know Ry F.M. from his bands that have both been featured here; Copilot and Ohyah. Ry has his hands in a little bit of everything, dabbling in rock, folk, pop and country. He also has produced music for other artists including Joe Gittleman of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. In 2022 he was honored with a New England Music Award for Song of the Year, with his band Ohyah.

  • The Music

Ry’s brand new release, recorded with Berklee Student Charlie Burkett, is called “Fall With Me.” He said it’s about “asking someone to join you in the fall.”  Is it taking a leap of faith? Perhaps. Most relationships have one person admitting they are falling in love before the other. To me it mean asking your partner if they are all in and ready to make the jump.
