I wish it was possible to bottle up Samantha Rae’s energy. Clearly, science hasn’t figured that one out yet. So, the next best thing is to see her performing live, because that energy is infectious. This New England native is remarkably entertaining, whether performing, singing or writing songs. Meet my Local Catch of the Week, Samantha Rae from Boston.

Samantha is the real deal. Not only is she a dedicated artist, she also is a mom, wife and business woman. She’s a bonified country girl whose days are filled with furry friends. The singer/songwriter has a farm in New Hampshire, where she manages her horse stable. There, Samantha also teaches horseback riding, and cares for her championship American Saddlebred horses.

Concerts and Contributions

As the “Samantha Rae Band” and “Samantha and Jay Acoustic,” they’ve performed over 70 shows in the past year. 2024 is also looking to be a record year for the musicians. Since they began working together. the Sam and Jay, with and without their band, have worked stages big and intimate. They’ve opened for national pop and country acts from Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray to Parmalee, LOCASH, and the Wailers.

Understandably, you need a lot of energy for all Samantha has accomplishes on a daily. But the family, business and art aren’t all Samantha Rae’s world spins around. She and Jay co-founded and currently manage a philanthropic project, The Country Women Cancer Fund. Together with the help of their band, families, friends, sponsors and fans have raised awareness for Women’s cancers and donated proceeds from dozens of shows and events to the fund, benefitting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Music
“All My Love For Christmas” is the first Christmas single release for Samantha. It’s one of 13 brand new originals that are a part of the current Samantha Rae album project. She and her creative partner, JayDellIsola wrote it this past summer. As Jay explained, “we had to try to channel the ‘Christmas’s feels’ during the summer heat lol. It’s the classic story of redeeming yourself for past holiday blunders. paying attention to the ones you love, learning lessons from the past. It’s also about being ‘present’ in your life. It can be hard for artists to tune out their creative activities and focus on family, which is the most important thing to us all.”

How did the creative partnership first come together: Samantha and Jay worked together in the New England music scene for over five years before deciding to launch “Samantha Rae” which is a project focused on Samantha as a solo artist.

How would you describe your sound: High energy pop country with a definite rock edge

Who inspires you: Family and friends that have supported our musical journey.

Awards/accolades: Samantha (as lead vocalist) and Jay (as drummer/vocalist) won the fan voted New England Country Music Awards – Group of the Year. The Samantha Rae band was honored to repeat performances at the Lansdowne Country Crawl and also asked back to represent local country at Fenway Park for last year’s Country Fest at historic Fenway Park in Boston. Samantha Rae band are in regular rotation at Mohegan Sun Casino, Loretta’s Last Call and just announced regular shows at Splitsville at Patriot Place throughout 2024.

Day jobs: Samantha is a horse trainer and instructor.

Most proud moment or moments: (Samantha) Being a mom is definitely my proudest accomplishment however getting to write songs with Jay and being able to perform them live is beyond measurable.

Crazy thing that happened in your music career: (Samantha) The personal and professional challenges that come with being an aspiring musician, dealing with setbacks and continually growing and realizing everything happens for a reason.

Fun facts: (Samantha) My real name is Samantha Ra, which means the sun goddess of Egypt. Once someone misspelled it and it has stayed that way as my stage name. I double majored in acting/theatre and business marketing and have been an extra in 7 major motion pictures.

Jay and I started writing new material not long after our departure from Whiskey-6 and we’ve worked with a lot of talented people including our incredibly talented Samantha Rae bandmates.
