Kruser’s Local Catch

What happens when 2 talented singer/songwriters collaborate on a song? You are about to find out. This is a first for my Local Catch. This is a spotlight on 2 artists at the same time, and one song they wrote and recorded together. Here, you can learn about and listen to my Local Catch of the Week: Shanna Jackman and Tim Buono.

These two musicians recently connected in song after having known each other for a while. They discovered they had a lot in common. Shanna shared, “We both felt it would be great to work on a song together as two local artists from the same area. I reached out to him on an idea, and he began writing the first things that came to his mind. He sent a verse and chorus and then I added a verse and bridge.”  Jackman also said the song happened very quickly, but the process of recording it, not so much. It was 2 years in the making. “First starting out of Nashville but unhappy with the production. COVID hit and we were unable to record vocals either. So, we ended up scraping the project and ended up using Rosewood Studio’s in Tyler, Texas.” Shanna had recorded recent projects there.

These 2 artists are admirably passionate composers and vocalists. I have always appreciated their talents. Shanna has an infectious energy, and Tim is so grounded and honest in his music. They really are a perfect pair for a duet project. Their voices compliment each other and the song doesn’t get lost in sappy sympatico. “Broken Together” is a tasty blend of heartache and love, spiced with a catchy country-pop melodies. I’m getting all the Carly Pearce/Lee Brice “I Hope You’re Happy Now” vibes. Give a listen to this delicious bop and tell me if you don’t hear it. New song: “Broken Together”

Tim Buono revealed how the duet with Shanna Jackman came together; “Shanna called me one day about 3 years ago wanting to collaborate on a song and had the tite “Broken Together” along with a general backstory. I happened to be sitting, playing guitar at the moment and the first verse and chorus just came pouring out. I sent a rough work tape back to Shanna within 20 minutes and then we collaborated on the 2nd verse, bridge and everything else in the song to how you hear it today.”

  • The Story

    • Shanna Jackman is from: Uxbridge
    • Tim Buono is from:  Upton
    • Current song collaboration: “Broken Together”
    • Shanna -What lead you to music: Growing up, I always had a connection to whenever I would hear music. My mother would write and play her guitar and sing to us and I would sing along to commercials, movies and plays.
    • Tim-What lead you to music: After going to my first concert, I was really drawn to the guitar. My parents bought me my first guitar before I was 10 and I was hooked. I started learning how to play and sing and eventually started writing my own songs, now here we are!
    • Shanna-First country song you learned: “It’s Your Love” from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw was the first song I learned on the guitar. As far as singing, the first country song I learned was “Crazy” by Patsy Cline.
    • Tim-First Country Song your learned: “Little Moments”- by Brad Paisley
    • How would you describe your sound: -(SHANNA)-I am a little country and a little rock-n-roll with a touch of R&B. My sound is not known for being soft and gentle (although that is nice too). I am more high energy with a wide vocal range. I am told I am a powerhouse for a little frame. (TIM)- I’ve been told a mix of Eric Church and Brad Paisley
    • Shanna- Who inspires you: My music is influenced from legends in the field, songwriters and upcoming artists in many genres of music.
    • Tim-Who inspires you: Right now, musically, I’m super inspired by Hardy. He just owns his own unique brand and sound. His writing is super captivating as well with the way he’s able to word-smith things. I love it
    • Tim-name one of your all-time favorite country songs:  “Anything But Mine” – Kenny Chesney, I play it at almost all of my shows and never get tired of hearing it.
    • Shanna- First country concert: Believe it or not, I didn’t attend concerts a lot. My first country concert wasn’t until I was the opening act for Darryl Worley around 2008 or so. Even though I am passionate about music I hardly ever owned CD’s or went to concerts. That has all changed of course.
    • Tim-First country concert: Brad Paisley at Indian Ranch in 2004
    • Shanna- Day Job: I am a Human Services Coordinator for the Department of Developmental Services and a part-time Public Safety Dispatcher.
    • Tim- Most proud moment: So far, opening for Lonestar at Stadium Theatre in Rhode Island with my family in the crowd.
    • Shanna- Most proud moment: I feel I have been blessed to experience many special and proud moments in my career as an artist. From hearing how my music has touched the lives of people I have never met across the world, to hearing from a 101-year-old Veteran that my rendition of the National Anthem was the best he ever heard. Those are moments will last with me forever.
    • Shanna – Other things you like to do: I enjoy attending church and being a part of their worship team, camping, home design/decorating/cleaning and farm-like activities at home. I have an amazon storefront but haven’t made it public (not sure what I am waiting for) but enjoy finding helpful items for the home when it comes to decorating, cleaning tools, storage/organizing etc. to help make life a little easier.
    • Tim-Other things you like to do: Boating/Fishing/anything around the ocean is a big part of my family and who I am, being creative in other ways like making custom cutting boards, benches out of old truck tailgates, things like that
    • Shanna- fun fact: When 90’s music comes on…watch out!
    • Tim-Fun facts: I’ve been lucky enough to be apart of writing songs for/with other artists as well as my own! Artists like Rob Bellamy, Tony Winkler, and Ashton Brooke Gill (this song was actually featured in a movie titled “The Author”!) have all recorded songs that I have co-written!
