What happens when 2 talented singer/songwriters collaborate on a song? You are about to find out. This is a first for my Local Catch. This is a spotlight on 2 artists at the same time, and one song they wrote and recorded together. Here, you can learn about and listen to my Local Catch of the Week: Shanna Jackman and Tim Buono.
These two musicians recently connected in song after having known each other for a while. They discovered they had a lot in common. Shanna shared, “We both felt it would be great to work on a song together as two local artists from the same area. I reached out to him on an idea, and he began writing the first things that came to his mind. He sent a verse and chorus and then I added a verse and bridge.” Jackman also said the song happened very quickly, but the process of recording it, not so much. It was 2 years in the making. “First starting out of Nashville but unhappy with the production. COVID hit and we were unable to record vocals either. So, we ended up scraping the project and ended up using Rosewood Studio’s in Tyler, Texas.” Shanna had recorded recent projects there.
These 2 artists are admirably passionate composers and vocalists. I have always appreciated their talents. Shanna has an infectious energy, and Tim is so grounded and honest in his music. They really are a perfect pair for a duet project. Their voices compliment each other and the song doesn’t get lost in sappy sympatico. “Broken Together” is a tasty blend of heartache and love, spiced with a catchy country-pop melodies. I’m getting all the Carly Pearce/Lee Brice “I Hope You’re Happy Now” vibes. Give a listen to this delicious bop and tell me if you don’t hear it.
