Local Catch Of The Week: Tim Charron From Rhode Island

We all need a vacation. That is a universal fact, and likely the reason New England singer/songwriter Tim Charron has embraced the “get-away-from-it-all” island vibe in his music. Music is meant to help us escape, and Tim is just the guy to take you there. He describes his sound as “country rock with a twist of lime.” Make mine a tall, with extra lime, please.

Charron didn’t grow up in the Carribbean, but he was born on an island…Rhode Island. He immediately and passionately connected with summertime and beach living. Tim relayed, “Growing up in Rhode Island was great. Half of the time we were in the city, and the other half we were in the sticks. We were always summering at Matunuck Beach in Rhode Island and that’s where I developed my fascination with the beach/ocean lifestyle.” His debut album’s title really sums up his musical mission; Chasing the Sun.

The latest release from the part-time Nashville and Florida resident is called “Rockstar.” The song starts with a lazy, hazy, totally chill, warm country air, before it starts to build and then hits the gas to rock out. This one will take you on that much needed vacation, and fire up your inner rockstar. So, let’s dig in. Get yourself a frozen concoction, let the sun hit your face, grab your fishing pole and let’s catch Tim’s music and story.     * What do you love about where you grew up: The close knit friends and family vibe and the beach during the summer

    * How did the song come to be/what’s it about? This song is about chasing your dreams and the people that believe in you along the way.

    * What lead you to music: As far back as I can remember I have been obsessed with music , then I started going to concerts real young . I started my first band at the age of 14 with friends while going to North Kingstown High School

    * Instruments played: Guitar and singer

    * How would you describe your sound: Country Rock with a Twist of Lime

    * Who inspires you: The amazing artists that I have gotten to work with like Charlie Daniels )( RIP ) , Bret Michaels, Big and Rich , Dustin Lynch… as well as people outside of music like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Joe Rogan .

    * Dream duet partner: Kenny Chesney, John Mellencamp

    All- time favorite country songs: All the Pretty Girls – Kenny Chesney, Dust on the bottle – David Lee Murphy, Save a Horse – Big and Rich

    * First country concert: Clint Black

    * What songs do you like now on Country 102.5: Country Again by Thomas Rhett

    * If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: Something else in Entertainment

    * Most proud moment: Opening for Charlie Daniels then watching Charlie perform while on the back of the stage with my dad .

    * Crazy thing that happened in your music career: Bret Michaels of Poison invited me to sing the encore with him “Nothin But a Good Time” . It was wicked awesome.

    * Famous encounters: I once hung out all night in New York City with BONO and Michael Stipe from REM . ( I was Michael’s personal trainer at the time and he invited me to his Christmas party )

    * Other things you like to do: Everything beach and island related

    * Fun Facts: I started a booking agency and now I’m booking shows for country music stars that we all love. Half the music on my iPod is in Spanish. I own over 50 black, GAP v-necks ! I recently started acting again and I am in Elle King’s new music video ( with Dax ) playing her boyfriend/ one night stand

    * Mantra: “Keep Chasing The Sun” ( meaning follow your dreams, chase happiness in life )
