Do you like to golf too? There are so many public courses, but here are my husband’s favorites.

Rob will be the first to tell you that I won't allow him to buy a membership to a private golf course. We are certainly not made of "private golf club money," if you know what I mean. There are a lot of private courses in Massachusetts. Many are rumored to cost half a million dollars just for the initiation fee. Don't even get me started about what that annual fee would be after you've finally been accepted. Tom Brady and his ex-wife, Gisele, couldn't even get easy access to The Country Club in Brookline.
My husband, Rob, was a former professional hockey player. So even though he was never on a golf team in high school, he has a natural golf swing. I've always been jealous of that natural ability to swing and connect with the ball. I have gone to the driving range many times and still can't seem to figure out how to swing a golf club correctly.

That's my husband, Rob, playing golf. I'm not a golf expert, but this looks like Granite Links to me!
Since retiring from hockey, he's played golf many times. He says it's a great game to meet people and close business deals. He believes that it's a great life skill for all men and women to learn golf so they can interact with the right people in the right professional field. As a country music radio personality, I personally can't say I have ever needed to play golf with anyone. However, if any country artist wanted to golf with me, I would take a few lessons and get my butt out there. (Or I can just drive the golf cart, which I would definitely prefer).
My Husband's Favorite Public Golf Courses
Rob has played many public courses in Massachusetts. When I asked him what his favorites were, these are the ones he liked the most.
1. Crumpin-Fox Golf Club - Bernardston
87 Parmenter Road, Bernardston, MA 01137
My husband grew up in Western MA, and this has always been one of his favorite courses to play on. It's in Bernardston, which is right below Vermont. It's a gorgeous course to play during the fall foliage time.
2. Granite Links-Quincy
100 Quarry Hills Drive, Quincy, MA 02169
Granite Links is a great golf course with incredible views of the Boston skyline. That's why many people go there. It's also the "go-to" place to drink during the summer season. Fun fact: my cousin is getting married here next year!
3. Red Tail Golf Club-Devens
15 Bulge Rd, Devens, MA 01434
This golf course has food, a banquet hall and a gorgeous golf course. I have personally never been to this one, but my husband seems to like it a lot. I can imagine that a lot of our service men and women would golf at this course, too!
4. Cape Cod National Golf Club-Brewster
174 S Orleans Rd, Brewster, MA 02631
Rob loves to golf on Cape Cod during the summers. A lot of his friends are members at private golf clubs, but he frequently visits this public course. The Cape Cod National Golf Club has hosted many events such as the U.S. Amateur Championship and U.S. Women’s Open qualifier in 2018.
5. The Ranch Golf Club-Southwick
65 Sunnyside Rd, Southwick, MA 01077
The Ranch has a special place in my husband's heart. It's the closest course to his hometown of Westfield, MA. So he's played this course many times. I have never been inside the club house or on the course. It never seems to be busy. But it sure is beautiful! If you're in Western, MA sometime, check it out.
6. Farm Neck Golf Club-Oak Bluffs
1 Farm Neck Way, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557
This golf course is closed during the winter season, which makes sense. Martha's Vineyard in the winter is not very kind. But during the peak weather, this is a peak golf course to visit. My husband loves MV. He proposed to me on Martha's Vineyard in 2020! You can find my top-rated bed and breakfast spots here).
7. Miacomet Golf Club-Nantucket
12 W Miacomet Rd, Nantucket, MA 02554
See? You don't have to be a member to golf like a champion. Here's a public golf course on Nantucket that my husband says is one of the best. Unlike the one on Martha's Vineyard, this one is open year around.
