My Husband Told Me I Dress Like A Hooker

Claire had a date night with her husband, but before he arrived she got hit on by an aggressive guy at the bar. When he arrived, he told her that she probably was getting hit on because she was dressed like a hooker. Should I husband be able to tell a wife if he thinks she is dressed like a hooker? Or is that something you just don’t say to a woman?

Let’s Hear Claire’s Story About Why Her Husband Says She Dresses Like A Hooker

Jonathan: Today for panic button we have Claire.

Claire: Hey. How are you?

Jonathan: Fantastic. Claire. So, I’m not going to ask you too many questions, because apparently that’s a problem with you. With guys, coming up and bothering you, asking you a bunch of questions. But what happened Claire?

Claire: My husband and I had agreed that after work last week, we were going to go meet up for drinks, right? Like a little date night.

Ayla: Sure. Post work, date night. Cute.

Claire: I change from my business clothes into a super cute dress, because it’s date night and we were going out and it was going to be fun. So I get to the restaurant like 20 minutes before he does. Right? And I’m just sitting there minding my own business.

Ayla: You’re sitting at the bar just waiting and you order a martini. I’m just getting a visual. You’re in a little black dress waiting for your hubby.

Claire: It’s super cute. I’ve got the heels on, the pushup, my make up. Let’s go have a martini. I’m just having a drink waiting for my husband. And this guy comes and I’ve got my wedding ring on.

Ayla: This guy comes up you know how this goes.

Claire: He starts to chat me up. Hey, you know, can I join you? Your next one’s on me kind of thing. I tell him right away I’m waiting for my husband.

Ayla: Good. Good girl.

Jonathan: And then he just left, right?

Claire: Well, yeah, because I’m trying to drink my drink. And my husband can walk through the door any second. And I’ve been looking forward to that.

Jonathan: So he wouldn’t leave you alone?

Claire: No, he would not leave me alone. He sits down.

Ayla: Oh my God. Oh my God.

Claire: Right. Yeah. He’s presumptuous. He keep going. He says, you know, if I was your husband, I’d already be here.

Ayla: Oh my gosh, I hate this guy.

Claire: Right, right, right. He was just gross. Yeah. You know, if I had you on my arm, I wouldn’t leave you.

Jonathan: Yeah. Cause some creep might come up in on you at a bar. Please get the message that you want to be left alone.

Ayla: Please tell me your husband walked in immediately.

Claire: Yeah, my husband walks in as this guy is still kind of lurking. And my husband walks up and the guy just doesn’t say another word.

Jonathan: I’m sure he just walks out.

Claire: So my husband sits down and he’s like, what was that about? And I was like, oh, that dude. He was just hitting on me. And he couldn’t take the hint. Whatever. And how was your day? And then my husband goes, well, it’s probably because you’re dressed like a hooker.

Ayla: What?

Claire: Yeah.

Jonathan: Well, I need to ask, were you.

Ayla: Do you have the right to ask that? She said she was super cute.

Jonathan: I’m not trying to defend your husband. I’m just asking was this was it a very revealing outfit?

Claire: No, it was okay. I think it was cute. I mean, it was a little black dress, right? I was trying to look nice.

Jonathan: Then your husband’s wrong.

Ayla: So your husband has probably seen you in this dress before. Was it a brand new dress?

Claire: It’s relatively new, but I wore it to a wedding. I mean, he has seen it before, you know?

Ayla: Why would he say that to you? I’m sorry.

Jonathan: Were you wearing a lot of makeup?

Ayla: It doesn’t matter. She was dressing up for her husband, who then called her a hooker. Yeah, that’s so wrong.

Jonathan: I agree. I guess it’s wrong. Look, I think the problem here is he’s basically blaming you because a guy hit on you instead of being pissed off at the guy. He’s mad at you, like the guy couldn’t help it.

Claire: Yeah, he’s giving the guy a pass, right?

Ayla: I’ve heard this from men a number of times. I don’t know if I ever covered it in the Dirt, but there was a guy who was dating some famous woman who had just given birth to a kid. And she went to the Usher concert, and she was dressed very provocatively. And Usher was singing to her. I remember this. He said that’s not the way I want the mother of my children to represent herself. And he got a lot of crap for saying that. But he was also being honest. You don’t loo the way I want. I’m just playing a little Devil’s Advocate. Your husband should not have said you look like a hooker.

Jonathan: I’ll be the Devil’s Advocate here. I don’t think that you should ever say that to a woman. Well, that’s because the way you were dressed. That’s a horrifying implication there. So I’m not going to go there. But I will ask this question. Does a husband have the right to comment on the way his wife is dressed?
