New England has 3 of the top “ glamping” site in America.

Glamping not camping

New England has 3 of the top “ glamping” site in America. That is according to the folks at Country Living. Glamping is a relatively new concept. Folks that enjoy the concept of camping without all the messy campground and tenting nuisances. It’s for folks who don’t want to sleep in a pitched tent inside of a sleeping bag with mosquitoes buzzing around their heads in the middle of the night.

No more sleeping on the floor!

According to Country Living magazine, Glamping has been around since around 2005. Think of it as they desire to commune with mother nature on your own terms in your own luxury space. They listed the 32 best and the good news is New England has 3 of the top glamping sites in America. Let’s look at what else they found.

Fresh baked cheese pizza out of the oven.

Many of these Glamping sites are over the top!

For instance the highest rated site is Desolation Hotel in  Hope Valley, CA  This mountain retreat dates back nearly a century. It has 28 cabins with custom furnishings made my local artisans and top end kitchen appliances and offers studio, one, two and three bedroom options. The site includes saunas, fire pits and star gazing telescopes to search the night skies.

Camping in Beverly Hills?

There’s also glamping at The Beverly Wilshire, in Beverly Hills, CA. It’s a rooftop tent with a glittering chandelier and a Four Seasons bed overlooking the world famous shopping strip of Rodeo Drive.  Be sure to try the gold dusted s’mores with a vintage Champagne Flight (according to their website).

Want to camp in NYC? You can!

There is even a glamping site in New York City! You can glamp with a sweet view of Manhattan at Collective Governors Island, just an eight minute ferry ride from the Financial District and facing the Statue of Liberty. The site includes bell tents that all feature their own en-suite bathrooms and much more. So if your idea of camping is gazing at city lights, this is the place for you.

Here are 3 New England Glamping sites that made the top 32 in America.

  • Sandy Pines Campground, Kennebunkport, ME

Coming in at number 16 on the list, Sandy Pines Campground offers a fun array of glamping options, including retro mobile homes, expansive tents, and even renovated covered wagons.
