The excitement is tangible for wrestling fans right now. WrestleMania 40 is this weekend featuring the epic rematch in the night 2 main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Can Cody overcome the “Final Boss” odds and finish the story, capturing the title his father Dusty never had the privilege of hoisting above his head in victory? But if we look beyond the main event scene, we find 5 undercard matches that could steal the show at WrestleMania 40. Before we get to the 5 matches and why you should be so excited for them, let’s take a look at the final card. The rundown for each night has been released so unless the old motto “Card Subject to Change” comes into play, this is what we’re looking at this weekend at Mania:

Before we talk about which matches could steal the show at WrestleMania 40, the match card:

And now, 5 Matches that Could Steal the Show at WrestleMania 40:

  • Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch

Mami has been on the roll of rolls. She definitely has elevated herself to become one of the top stars on the entire roster. Becky Lynch is an all-timer still in her prime. Both women will be on a mission to make the most of the attention they’re given. Opening match of both nights of Mania? Great place on the card to steal the show!

  • Gunther vs. Sami Zayne

Gunther is another wrestler who has transformed himself – literally – since he was known as WALTER in NXT. I remember I was one of the many that thought WWE just killed the mystique of WALTER when they moved him to the main roster as… Gunther?!? However, I was wrong. Gunther is a throwback to dominant heels of the past but reimagined. Sami Zayne is an emotional favorite. He’s a storytelling genius and the ride he and Chad Gable have taken us on leading up to the big match has been great. So we’ll get great wrestling and super storytelling. That is the perfect recipe to set themselves up to steal the show!

  • Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, & Naomi vs. Damage CTRL

While I love many of the women in this match and respect their skill in the ring so much, I don’t think this match will steal the show because of the star rating or the story. I think this match could steal the show because it’ll be our first look at Jade Cargill in the ring. Nobody can deny that she has STAR all over her and I think that’ll be put on full display at her first Mania. If all goes right, the simple presence of Jade – presented perfectly – could steal the show… or at least be a major headline and talking point coming out – and even be looked back on as “remember back when she made her debut” forever.

  • Logan Paul (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

Love him or hate him but Logan Paul seems like he was custom-built to be a WWE star. He’s got the look, he’s got the personality, and he has a God-given natural talent to do jaw-dropping things in the ring. It’s wild to me that he’s a celebrity wrestler. Growing up pretty much every celebrity who got in the ring sucked. Not Logan. And put him in their with two guys who can go at a top level. I think we’ll see something crazy in this match. Something stunty McStunterson. Something that could steal the show!

  • IYO SKY (c) vs. Bayley

This is my pick for HOPING it steals the show. Why?? Bayley has consistently been a top performer for WWE. Iyo Sky is an incredibly talented wrestler. Bayley freaking WON the Royal Rumble to earn her shot just like Cody Rhodes! But for some reason Bayley has been left off almost all promotional materials for WrestleMania. She deserves her due, as does IYO. Bayley was the best character they had during the dismal COVID-era. Most weeks I hated most of what I watched from WWE during that time, but Bayley always kept us entertained and laughing. Let’s goooooooo Bayley and IYO! It’s an outside chance but let’s STEAL THAT SHOW!!!
