This year has already given us great hosts of SNL this 2024 season, but let’s rank them. This ranking will be based on my personal preference of how much I like or dislike each host. This is totally based on my opinion and my opinion only, so if you get mad at this list, take it up with me! I will continue to update this list throughout the year, because I understand that we are only in the 2nd quarter of the year.

This Saturday Night Live Will Be Epic

This Saturday night, Ryan Gosling will be hosting SNL, and country music star, Chris Stapleton, is the musical guest. Saturday Night Live released a promo to get viewers excited about the episode, and I’ll say, the person that’s the most excited is host, Ryan Gosling. In the promo below, Ryan is outside of Chris Stapleton’s dressing room door. And he seems very nervous to meet Chris. In fact, he starts rehearsing to himself some opening greeting lines. When he finally musters up the courage to knock on the door, he does to an empty room with just Chris Stapleton’s iconic cowboy hat inside.

This might be the funniest commercial I’ve ever seen if I’m being honest with you. As someone who has met Chris Stapleton and sat next to him on a Southwest Airlines flight from Nashville to Philly, I will say this. Chris is a very quiet man. He’s shy and humble. Even though he sings with such power and confidence, his personality doesn’t reflect that. Chris is more of a quiet soul. I sometimes feel like he hides behind his iconic cowboy hat, like it’s his security blanket.

When I saw this commercial it really tracked for me. Ryan Gosling’s personality is outgoing and vibrant. He’s bold and loud. He’s been an actor and performer since he was a child. Chris Stapleton’s personality is more quiet and subdued, which makes it so hilarious that only his cowboy hat would be in the room.

• 9. Josh Brolin

  Who is he? The step son of Barbara Streisand and James Brolin (two pretty huge actors) and got his start as a young actor in The Goonies. He’s been in big movies since like Deadpool 2 and Dune 2. But I have never heard of him before, which is the only reason he’s last on this list.

• 8. Shane Gillis

  Shane was supposed to be a featured cast member on SNL, but got canned before he was ever on. SNL fired him for previous tweets that they deemed racist. He used the controversy to gain even more popularity, and was invited back on to SNL to host.

• 7. Jacob Eldori

  I know Jacob Eldori is the new “hot guy,” but maybe he’s just not my cup of tea. I don’t like the shows that he’s in (Euphoria, Saltburn, The Kissing Booth). So sure, he’s popular, but not to me, which is why he’s so far down on my list.

• 6. Timothee Chalamet

  Timothee is definitely the hot ticket in town right now. Anyone who can successfully play the role of Willy Wonka is impressive to me. But I still don’t understand the allure.

• 5. Nate Bargartze

  I don’t watch Nate and his standup, so this is kind of silly for me to put him towards the top of the list. But here’s the deal, my co-workers think that I will love him. They say that he has a bit of a “Southern humor” thing going on, and for that reason alone he’d be a favorite of mine.

• 4. Sydney Sweeney

  Sydney Sweeney was definitely the talk of the town after her SNL hosting appearance. As my co-workers pointed out, there were many people who were infatuated with her chest area. Her low-cut dresses were all people could focus on. But she makes my personal list because I think she’s a talented actress who shouldn’t be objectified based on her boobs.

• 3. Ayo Edebiri

  Ayo is so high up on the list because she’s from Boston (shoutout!!!) I also think she’s adorable and did a great job hosting for her first time. Ayo got her big break on the show, “The Bear.” If you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest it. She was wonderful in that show.

• 2. Kristen Wiig

  Kristen Wiig is just a legend. She’s funny, she’s smart, she takes control of the stage. All of these qualities lands her at #2 of SNL hosts in 2024.

• 1. Ryan Gosling

  Ryan Gosling hasn’t even hosted SNL yet, but I already know it’s going to be the best of 2024. His charisma alone is going to take over and he will command the stage. He will be funny and I’m sure his monologue will be epic.
