The tax free weekend in Massachusetts is finally here! Here's what you need to know: It takes place Saturday, August 12th and Sunday August 13th here in Massachusetts.
Retail items of up to $2500 for personal use will be exempt from the state sales tax. Which items remain taxable: Purchases by corporations or other businesses and purchases by individuals for business use.
These are the retail items that are NOT eligible: Meals, Motor vehicles, Motorboats, Telecommunications services, Gas, Steam, Electricity, Tobacco products, Marijuana or marijuana products, Alcoholic beverages, and Any single item whose price is more than $2,500. Layaway sales also do not qualify. And as for items purchased online during the sales tax holiday: An item will qualify for the sales tax holiday exemption if you order and pay for an eligible item over the internet: On the sales tax holiday and. During Eastern Daylight Time.
Just make sure when you're checking out you're not being charged a sales tax. If you are, you are eligible for a full refund for that item. Now, after hearing all of this and learning about the tax free holiday, we have come with a list of things you SHOULD buy this weekend. This is based on what we feel are necessities and things you can save the most money on.

Online purchases under $2500
If you purchase anything online from any retailer, you are NOT going to be taxed. However, be careful at check out to make sure you're not being charged. If so, you are eligible for a refund.
Computer or tablet for back to school
This is THE BEST time to get the kids or even yourself a new computer, laptop or tablet. As long as it's under $2500, it is exempt from sales tax this weekend.
A suit
Most clothing is not taxed anyway, however items over $175 are so a purchase of a suit that you may need for work or an upcoming event is a great idea.
A wedding dress
Again, a wedding dress is considered a piece of clothing over $175 so this is the perfect time to buy one. If you or someone you know is tying the knot, get the dress this weekend.
A pair of Jordan's or Yeezy's or expensive sneakers
Again, with clothing under $175 not being taxed, now's a great time to get a pair of your favorite expensive shoe.
Take your car to the mechanic
Your mechanic's labor is always tax free BUT the parts are not. So your car parts are included in the sales tax holiday.

TVs
So obviously even if you don't need a new TV, now's the time to get one. You'll be saving a ton on tax alone, as long as the purchase is under $2500.
Furniture
Any piece of furniture under $2500 is exempt. So go to your favorite furniture store this weekend.
Jewelry
Any piece of jewelry under $2500 is exempt from tax this weekend.
Workout equipment
Need some more kettle bells? Now's the time to get them.
