Dolly Parton has never performed an NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show, but don’t you think she should? YES!

But here’s the thing, Dolly has turned down the opportunity to sing at halftime, multiple times. In 2015, Super Bowl producers/organizers wanted her to join Katy Perry, but Dolly said no. It’s not because she doesn’t like Katy Perry. She turned it down because her husband was ill at the time. And if you can believe this, Dolly didn’t think she was good enough to perform a Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Dolly Parton told the Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve never done anything with that big of a production. I don’t know if I could have. I think at the time that’s what I was thinking.” Wait, is Dolly saying she’s not good enough? Ya right! Dolly Parton is a legend. She’s the best. She’d tear the house down!

Dolly has turned down the opportunity to sing at the Super Bowl. But she’s open to the opportunity now!

Actually, of all of the performers in the entire world, I bet that Dolly Parton would be able to quiet an entire football stadium. Could you imagine talking or yelling while hearing the legend sing, “I Will Always Love You?” You’d probably be able to hear a pin drop during that song.

Dolly is likable to any gender, any age, and music fan. She has fans from all over the world who would tune in to cheer her on. And the people here in the United States would be inspired by her performance. (Dolly for President!)

Would Dolly Ever Perform A Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Dolly Parton seems to have changed her tune about performing at a Super Bowl Halftime Show, which is great for her and fantastic for us! I’m not sure if it’s the confidence of releasing a rock & roll album, or being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, but Dolly admits that she’s ready for the big Super Bowl stage.

In the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter she talked about the release of her Rockstar album. When referring to singing a halftime show she said, “It would make more sense. That might change. I might be able to do a production show.”

If Dolly Parton were to sing at the Super Bowl what do you think she should sing? I personally think these are the ones she should do!

So if Dolly Parton does perform at a Super Bowl Halftime Show, she’s got to bring the heat! And I know she will. These are the songs that I think she should sing if she accepts the opportunity.

Please Sing These Songs, Dolly!

  • "9 to 5"

This is one of Dolly’s signature songs and a crowd-pleaser. I think she should start the halftime show with this song!

  • "Jolene"

Another of her most famous songs that would get the crowd singing along. Even though the song was released in 1973, it still hits to audiences of all ages. Here’s her version of it when she performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony.

  • "Islands in the Stream"

While Kenny Rogers is no longer with us, this is still a classic song that people would love to hear. But who should take Kenny’s place? Maybe Kenny Chesney? We’re talking about Islands and Kenny Chesney loves Islands. Or Maybe Blake Shelton? Blakes loves performing duets.

  • "I Will Always Love You"

Dolly’s original version of this song, which was later covered by Whitney Houston, is a beautiful choice. As I said before, she HAS to include this one. It doesn’t need to be the entire song, but at least one verse and one chorus, because it is her most iconic song.

  • "Here You Come Again"

A pop-country hit that could get the audience swaying back and forth with beers in their seats. I picture people arm and arm going right to left, right to left, the entire song.

  • "Wrecking Ball"

This song is featured on Dolly’s new Rockstar album. It’s a duet with Miley Cyrus. So I’m thinking that both of them show up on wrecking balls and sing this duet. I would change the beginning to make it more upbeat though.

  • "What's Up?"

“What’s Up?” is another track featured on Dolly Parton’s rock & roll album. It’s a collaboration between Dolly and the lead singer of 4 Non Blondes, Linda Perry. Wouldn’t it be iconic if both of them got the entire stadium singing “HEYYYYYYY! WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?!!”

  • "Stairway To Heaven"

Dolly recorded a version of “Stairway to Heaven” three years ago, but on her Rockstar album she has updated it with Lizzo. It would be a fun rock song that the football crowd would know and love! And if Lizzo comes out with her flute, that’s just a plus!

  • "We Are The Champions"

I think that Dolly should end the entire Super Bowl Halftime Show with “We Are The Champions.” It’s another song that will be on her rock & roll album and it would be a perfect song to end a set with. I can picture 70,000 people singing “We are the championssss” at the top of their lungs.
