Amazon Prime To Raise Membership Prices
The numbers are going up about 20%, so make sure you adjust your budget accordingly!
Amazon’s Finance Chief Brian Olsavsky shared that the company will be hiking up prices on Prime to $119 instead of the original $99, according to CNET.
The new price will apply to existing prime members renewals starting June 16, and if your regular renewal is on or after June 16, you won’t be allowed to prepay for another year at the cheaper rate.
This upping of costs could change future renewals or new subscribers, and that could hurt the business, despite it’s 100 Million subscribers worldwide. However, with certain benefits like shipping, Prime Video, and the partnership with Twitch, perhaps users will continue to pay for their obsessions, just like we do with many other subscription sites.
