Todd Chrisley Indicted for Tax Evasion
Todd Christley and his wife Julie Chrisley are in trouble with the law.
According to TMZ, the couple is under federal indictment for tax evasion, conspiracy, wire fraud, and bank fraud. Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, has also been indicted.
Todd Chrisley claims that he and his wife are innocent and that they knew the charges were coming.
TMZ explains: “The U.S. Attorney’s office claims Todd and Julie defrauded banks by fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in loans, and also claims the couple cheated taxpayers by actively evading federal taxes on the money they earned.”
This apparent scheme went on from 2007 to 2012, and the money they received was what they used to fund their lavish lifestyle.
TMZ also reports that Chrisley and his business partner made it look like they had million in his bank account. The feds have an email that Todd sent to this partner that says, “You are a f***ing genious [sic]!!!! Just make it show 4 mil+.”
Todd recently went to Instagram to discuss the allegations. It the lengthly post he stands by the fact that he is innocent. “I’m telling you all this now because we have nothing to hide and have done nothing to be ashamed of. Not only do we know we’ve done nothing wrong, but we’ve got tons of hard evidence and a bunch of corroborating witnesses that prove it,” Todd explains.
