‘Judge Judy’ Ending After 25 Years – Here’s How Much it Made Her
Not gonna lie – over the years I’ve been a fairly regular viewer of Judge Judy. I even bought my daughter an “Only Judy Can Judge Me” shirt for Christmas this past year. So this news is a little sad for me – but not too sad seeing as though I’ve been watching more People’s Court recently – Judge Judy is ending it’s run after 25 seasons on-air. Judge Judy Sheindlin has agreed to a deal with CBS to continue making Judge Judy through Season 25 for a reported $47 million a year.
To put things in perspective, when Judge Judy debuted on TV Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were still together, Brad Pitt was People’s Sexiest Man Alive (ok, maybe that’s not too big of a change), Mel Gibson’s Braveheart won Best Picture, OJ’s trial was captivating the nation, and Amazon sold it’s first book.
It’s been a good 25 year run for Judge Judy and Judy Sheindlin has been the highest paid person on TV for a good number of years – the show has helped her acquire a current net worth of $440 million according to Forbes. Not too shabby…
And she’s not done yet. She wants to keep working. When Judge Judy wraps production after next season. she’ll start a new judge TV show – Judy Justice. Continue that bank roll.
