Charlie Baker, Patriots, Red Sox, & Celtics Players, Steve Carell, and More to Present Televised Commencement for Mass. Class of 2020
Massachusetts has 668 public and private high schools. With the ongoing pandemic, commencements are being canceled for seniors all around the country. But the Class of 2020 will get a special televised mass commencement and there’s going to be some pretty awesome presenters and guests.
WGBH is teaming up with Gov. Charlie Baker to produce the virtual commencement ceremony. Gov. Baker will deliver the commencement speech and feature pre-taped speeches and segments from Devin and Jason McCourty of the New England Patriots, members of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics, and multiple celebrities with Massachusetts ties, including actor Steve Carell.
The Boston Pops Orchestra will perform “Pomp and Circumstance” graduation march music and students from all around Massachusetts will give valedictorian speeches.
“Massachusetts Commencement 2020” will air on WGBH on June 9th.
