DavidsTea will Close All U.S. locations, Including 8 Locations in the Greater Boston Area
DavidsTea has announced a restructuring which will move all of it’s retail sales online as the chain will be closing all 124 North American locations.
In a press release, Herschel Segal (founder and CEO of DavidsTea) explained “With the upcoming closure of 124 unprofitable stores across North America, we are certainly making good progress in creating a stronger business model for the future and ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of DavidsTea and our beloved brand.”
A statement was also released on the company’s website saying “For over 10 years, our sole purpose has been rooted in spreading ‘positivitea’ to tea lovers across North America, and this year, we’ve faced the challenging reality that COVID-19 is going to be more disruptive to our business than we originally anticipated. We believe this is a necessary evolution for our company to better serve you, and are committed to being the leading tea experts for our tea loving community. You have long told us that we are your ‘happy place,’ and we will continue to share our passion for loose leaf tea while providing the customer experience you know and love — wherever we connect.”
There are two DavidsTea locations in Boston, one in Cambridge, one in Chestnut Hill, and other locations in Hingham, Natick, Lynnfield, and Wrentham.
