‘Golden Girls’ Is Being Revived With An All Black Cast
These days not much from the past isn’t being rebooted and revived – the latest? (Cue “Thank You For Being a Friend”) The Golden Girls! But it’s being revived with a twist: The revival seeks to ‘reimagine’ the beloved TV show from the experience of black women.
Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan and Alfre Woodard have been cast in the lead roles and the revival appears to be a one-off special event, set to be broadcast on Zoom on Tuesday evening at 9pm.
Tracee Ellis Ross shared the news on social media and from the women’s placement in the photo, it appears that Ross will play Rose, Woodard will play Sophia, Lathan will play Blanche and King will play Dorothy.:
