Kenny Chesney shared his grief, after losing a “dear friend” of 15 years.
Helicopter Pilot Maria Rodriguez was one of four killed in a helicopter crash yesterday on St. Thomas, in the Virgin Islands. She was a decorated pilot, who went above and beyond to help after Hurricanes Maria and Irma, flying support missions in difficult conditions. In 2018 she received the HAI Salute to Excellence Pilot of the Year Award for her missions.
Kenney said goodbye in a tender, beautiful post to his friend
On Instagram Kenny also posted, “I have been flying with Maria for over 15 years and we shared a lot of laughs and a lot of life together. She was always the first person I saw when I landed and the last person I said goodbye to when I would leave island. I’m sure going to miss that. It’s fair to say I won’t ever be able to go to the Virgin Islands again without feeling the loss of her. She was such a huge part of my island life.
