Baker Announces ‘Pivot’ for Next Phase of MA COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout
Gov. Baker announced on Monday that the state will “pivot” its vaccination strategy, which aims to succeed in his goal of getting 4 million people in the state fully vaccinated.
In a series of tweets, Baker explained how the state will be changing up it’s vaccine infrastructure. The vaccine program will be expanded by giving double the dose allocation to the 20 hardest-hit cities, expanding mobile clinics, adding doses for regional collaboratives, and increasing doses for primary care providers, affirming they can meet storage and logistical needs.
The state also plans to gradually close four of the state’s seven mass vaccination sites by the end of June. Those sites are Gillette Stadium, Hynes Convention Center, DoubleTree Hotel in Danvers, and the Natick Mall. In addition, several of the sites will begin accepting walk-ins “soon.” Information about walk-ins will be posted to VaxFinder.mass.gov as it becomes available.
