Author Jeff Gorra
May 16th 4:39 PM

The Boston Seaport with WS Development announced yesterday the return of the Seaport x Black Owned Bos program. 2023 marks fourth year of their partnership. Together, they will feature over 60 small businesses in the Boston Seaport area this season.

The event kicks off this Sunday, May 21. The open-air market will feature a different theme each month. May’s theme is Flower Power.

Local Entrepreneurship

The Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Market will feature over 30 vendors each weekend from a rotating collection of over 60 vendors throughout the season. Fashion, beauty, wellness, giftware, food, and lastly, art are the product themes the businesses will represent.

All the small businesses participating in the market are members of Black Owned Bos. Therefore, they will each have their own tented area to showcase their items.

“This season of the Seaport x Black Owned Bos. will be our best yet! Our goal  is to create a destination experience where people look forward to something new each month, and can spend the day with us eating, shopping, and discovering their new, favorite retail brands,” said  Jae’da Turner, Founder and Managing Director of Black Owned Bos.

In addition, Emily Soukas, Associate Director of Community & Partnerships at WS Development states, “We are excited to continue growing our partnership with Black Owned Bos. and are humbled that this year marks our largest market yet! We are proud to welcome such a talented array of Black entrepreneurs and artisans to the neighborhood.”

What Else?

The additional monthly themes are music starting June 25. Afterward, fun in the Sun will begin on July 23.  Following this, Zaz Fest will take place on August 20. Then, Back to School starts on September 24. Finally, Fall Fest concludes the season on October 8.

Each month, themed activities will be part of the event. This includes a family-friendly Tot Spot Playspace, games provided by The Little Cocoa Bean Co., beverages by Progressive Wine Co., food from Caribbean Latin fusion ZaZ Restaurant, and live music by DJ Slick Vick & KNSZWRTH, concurrently.

This outdoor market is free and will be held at the Seaport Common (85 Northern Avenue). Accordingly, it will take place one weekend per month from May through October. The hours are 12 pm to 6 pm.
