For The 1st Time In 73 Years The Kowloon Will Close For A Wedding
There’s a first time for everything. And a bigtime first is about to take place at one of the most iconic restaurants in New England. But the question is, who is the lucky couple who will break the record and host a private event at the legendary Kowloon restaurant? They must be celebrities or royalty, right? Nope. They are Kayla and Jon and they booked this restaurant on the hill on Route 1 in Saugus, Massachusetts. For the 1st time in 73 years the Kowloon will close for a wedding, this weekend. They’ve never closed for any private event. So, yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
We don’t know anything more about the couple except their first names and that they must love Saugus Wings, the famous chicken wings offered at the Kowloon Restaurant. But when you think about it, what a cool place for a wedding. It’s enormous and filled with funky stuff to look at. There are deliciously fun drinks and the food is really good. You don’t need to hire a caterer, it’s all right there!
Owner (and really nice guy) Bobby Wong told boston.com that the couple approached him regarding their wedding plans. He said, “we thought it was an opportunity to do something that would be totally different than we’ve ever done before.” Function manager Lillian Moy, has been working with Kayla and Jon for about 6 months on their big day event. So, for the 1st time in 73 years the Kowloon will close for a wedding. And good news, you can still order takeout on Saturday!
A toast to the creative couple (for coming up with the idea)! May your days be filled with a Pu Pu Platter of fun, and cheers to more Scorpion Bowls in your future!
If you’ve never been to the Kowloon, go! You’ll find them on Route 1 in Saugus, at 948 Broadway. And take a look at some of the best towns in Massachusetts for foodies, here:
