Undefeated Canton Little League Dream Team Needs 3 Wins To Get To World Series
“They think they’re The Beatles. They don’t know who The Beatles are, but they think they’re The Beatles.” Those are the words of Canton , MA Little League coach Ryan Archibald, as he jokingly told WBZ-TV. The “rock star” undefeated Canton Little League dream team needs 3 wins to get to the World Series.
Last weekend, the team beat Barnstable. They are now 14-0 heading into the New England Regional. This weekend the boys play Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire in the Regional. Three wins and they’re off to the Little League World Series! The State champs can add TV star to their resume. The team talked with WBZ‘s Steve Burton and said they are confident. Third baseman Mike Camerano said, “We pick each other up and we’re better when we play loose and with confidence. And everyone can hit. We’re dangerous offensively and we can shut it down in the field.”
The team had a big send off early this morning, that included a police escort to the Regionals in Bristol, CT. The competition begins tomorrow (Saturday August 5 in Bristol, where Canton will play in the New England Regional vs St Johnsbury, VT, Gray New Gloucester, Maine, and Salem, New Hampshire. Only one team can advance to Williamsport, PA for the World Series.
The boys play Vermont in Game 1 tomorrow (Saturday) at 10am. You can watch it on ESPN and NESN. The schedule is HERE. Most of us have no connection to this team, yet we feel like they are our team. They are certainly bringing communities together in our hopes for these boys. Go Canton!
