‘Friends’-Inspired Central Perk Coffeehouse Is NOW Open In Boston
I can practically hear Phoebe singing “Smelly Cat” and Chandler wisecracking “can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?” Inspired by the wildly popular TV show Friends, a Central Perk Coffeehouse is NOW open in Boston.
This morning at 7:00, a modern take on the classic TV show coffeehouse set opened in Back Bay. Yes, the orange couch is there. You can order a “How You Doin'” medium roast or a “Oh My Gawd” cold brew. It’s a warm-fuzzy nostalgic take on the show we can’t seem to get enough of.

Friends ran on NBC from 1994-2004 and the characters on the show became our friends over the years. The highly rated, often awarded television show starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwinner, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. According to PEOPLE. “Central Perk”(Boston) is the first permanent coffee shop and restaurant serving light fare.”
As reported in PEOPLE, the original Boston opening date of October 28th was delayed, following the death of Matthew Perry. Today, Central Perk will honor Perry on it’s opening day.

According to a press release shared to PEOPLE, at today’s opening “Central Perk Coffeehouse will distribute the Chandler Bing ‘Can I Interest You in a Sarcastic Comment’ sleeve exclusively for the entire day.” It’s to honor the life and legacy of esteemed actor Matthew Perry.
