Massachusetts’ Jo Dee Messina Scores A CMA Nomination And A Hometown Show
The CMA Awards are tomorrow night and among the nominees is Jo Dee Messina from Holliston, Massachusetts. Jo Dee left Massachusetts for Nashville when she was just 19 years old. Some 33 singles later, including 6 #1s, she made her mark as one of country music’s strong female voices over the years. This year, Massachusetts’ Jo Dee Messina scores a CMA nomination and a hometown show!
Our hometown girl is nominated for the CMA’s Musical Event of the Year. Cole Swindell’s “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” is the gift that keeps giving. Earlier this year Swindell scored the ACM Awards for Single and Song of the Year for the song. Now “She Had Me At Heads Carolina (Remix)” with Jo Dee Messina is nominated. The original song did not feature Jo Dee. Rather, it borrowed for her 1996 smash hit, “Heads Carolina, Tails California.” She was featured in Cole’s video, however.
Cole and Jo Dee’s collab on “She Had Me at Heads Carolina” is going up against “Save Me” (Jelly Roll/Lainey Wilson), “Thank God” (Kane and Kaitlyn Brown), “Wait in the Truck” (Hardy/Lainey Wilson), and “We Don’t Fight Anymore (Carly Pearce/Chris Stapleton). Some stiff competition.
The Hometown Show
It’s great to have Jo Dee back in the limelight. The 2 time Grammy nominee’s first big award came in 1998 when she won the ACM’s Top New Female Vocalist award. This year marks her 5th CMA Award nomination. It’s an exciting new chapter this year as Massachusetts’ Jo Dee Messina scores a CMA nomination and a hometown show!
Get ready New England, our girl is coming home! With all the buzz surrounding Jo Dee, now is the perfect time to embark on a big tour, and that’s exactly what she is doing. Yesterday, Indian Ranch in Webster, MA announced their very first show of the 2024 season and it is Jo Dee Messina. She’ll bring her “Heads Carolina, Tails California” tour to the amphitheater on Lake Webster on June 1. The public on-sale for tickets begins this Friday, November, 10 at 10am. Get your tickets HERE!
Good luck Wednesday night, Jo Dee and Cole! Honestly, I was surprised Swindell didn’t enlist Messina on the original, “She Had Me at Heads Carolina.” But I was excited when the remix was released. More on that, here:
