Beyoncé Releases New Album ‘Cowboy Carter,’ Fans React
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter has arrived. She released the Renaissance: Act II project, Cowboy Carter, on Friday (March 29). With 27 tracks, Beyoncé is putting her stamp on country music. The album has guest appearances from Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, Shaboozey, Linda Martell, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Willie Jones, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s youngest daughter, Rumi Carter, is also credited with the album.
The project, which was announced during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, was originally supposed to be the first act, but the singer decided to hold off on releasing it.
“This album took over five years,” Beyoncé said in a press release. “It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put Cowboy Carter out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.”
Fans React To Cowboy Carter
Beyoncé has been trending all morning since the release of Cowboy Carter. The general consensus of the album is that it is exactly what Beyoncé said it would be: a Beyoncé album. Meaning that she put her own spin on the genre while paying homage to the rich country music history.
“TYRANT… is BLASTing [crying laughing emoji] in these VEGAS Streets GIDDY UP GIDDY UP,” icon Anita Baker tweeted of the 25th track on the album.
“I can’t wait to see Beyoncé perform “Ya Ya.” It’s Tina Turner coded,” a fan wrote of the late legend and Beyoncé’s idol.
“She literally took the genre, did it how they used to do it, did it how they’re doing it now, and then did it how she wanted to do it. Now THAT’S how you do it,” another fan wrote of the backlash Beyoncé has gotten after pursuing the genre.
“That Beyonce & Post Malone song?? Wow this is enjoyment,” a fan said of “Levii’s Jeans.”
“Did I just finish that album… or did that album just finish me?” a fan joked.
