There Are Hidden Meanings To Stars On Barns
A star on the side of a barn is very Americana. But did you know that there are hidden meanings to the stars? Me neither. Well, according to the website Taste of Home, there’s a lot more to those barn stars than just decoration.
They are actually called “Pennsylvania stars” or “primitive stars” and they were originally used by German and Dutch settlers to ward off EVIL. And, the star’s color holds some meaning, too. You can get them in just about every color including the stars and stripes, which of course there’s no hidden meaning to that one. You are very patriotic, but how about other star on barns colors?
Here’s what the hidden meanings of stars on barns
1. A brown star is known to symbolize friendship and strength. I always thought that a brown star was just showing it’s age with lots of rust. It’s nice to know that they stand for friendship and strength though. If you see one you can be assured that there are some real quality people that put it up for sure.
2. A white star stands for purity, and energy. White always does stand for purity, think about wedding dresses and confirmation suits too. The energy part of it is a bit surprising, although it does take a certain amount of it if the star is on a working barn we suppose.
3. A violet star is considered holy. You can assume that the owners are probably church going people that are not afraid to show the world that they a believers in a higher being. One would assume that they are good solid folk.
4. A green star symbolizes hope for growth and fertility on the farm. This is vital to a working farm because above all, a farm must continue to flourish and grow in order to survive. Let’s just say that a good birth rate is essential to working farms.
5. A blue star, or a black star symbolizes protection for the farm. We are not sure what the star is protecting them from, perhaps all things bad from weather and fire to bad hombre’s with ill intent. Either way, we could all use a little protection from harm.
6. And a yellow star means love for your fellow man and the sun. This is a beautiful sentiment and says a lot about the owners. To proudly boast a yellow star to show your love for mankind is a very generous thing. You know if you see a yellow star, there’s good people living nearby.
