Three N.E States Rank High In Dating Profile Honesty.
For those of us in the dating world (thankfully, I’m out of it) the biggest challenge is with meeting people that are single too. For most that means using one of the various online dating apps where perspective dates post their profiles.
Unfortunately, a big portion of people on the dating apps are let’s just say less than honest about themselves and their entire existence. People will embellish things about themselves that will not pass the test of time when they are confronted with a real live person that they have connected with.
The website DatingAdvice.com recently had single Americans rate their online dating experiences of how honest people are, on a scale of 1-to-10 . . . with one being the least honest, and 10 the most.
And this isn’t embellishing stories . . . it’s the basic stuff like ages, jobs, hobbies, education, appearances in real life, and even “relationship status.”
Overall, people rated the HONESTY they’ve encountered on dating profiles as a “5.1 out of 10.” Which . . . is not great. But there was a lot of variance by state.
Here are the 3 N.E. states that scored the highest in dating honesty
South Dakotans stood out as the most honest, scoring a 7.5 out of 10. Other honest states include: Alaska (7.3) . . . Delaware (7.0) . . . Maine (6.8) . . . New Hampshire (6.3) . . . and Vermont (6.2). In case you were wondering how Massachusetts fared, the score was a below average honesty score of 4.9. That leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to dating site honesty.
New Yorkers were the LEAST honest, by far, scoring only 3.4 out of 10. Other dishonest states include: Pennsylvania (4.0) . . . Washington state (4.0) . . . New Jersey (4.1) . . . Wisconsin (4.2) . . . Iowa (4.2) . . . and West Virginia (4.3).
And, for what it’s worth, 53% of single people say they’ve found that city daters are LESS honest than smaller town residents.
What is about online profiles that make people lie or let’s “stretch the truth” when it comes to themselves? Don’t they think that they will have some explaining to do when you meet up. If you lie about your appearance, height or weight it won’t be long before the truth comes out.
It’s one thing to lie about your looks etc, but if you lie about your age, you are telling a lot about yourself. There’s no way you can keep up this lie for long and the best way to see if someone is lying about their age, ask them what year they graduated from high school. If they hesitate with the answer, that should present a red flag for you. Everyone knows what year they graduated and it should come out rapidly.
Hey, good luck out there and keep it real. Really.
