Longtime Pats’ Safety Patrick Chung Announces Retirement From NFL
After 11 years as a New England Patriot, Patrick Chung is hanging up his cleats. Announcing “Patriot until I die,” Patrick took to Instagram to relay his retirement.
#23 spent the 2020 season off the field, opting out due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. Chung was drafted by the Pats with the 34th overall pick in 2009.

Patrick Chung left the Patriots in 2013, spending one season with the Philadelphia Eagles. He returned to New England, playing the next 6 seasons here. The 3 time Pats Super Bowl Champ (2014, 2016 and 2018) was highly respected by Coach Bill Belichick for his toughness.
Chung wrote, “I’m in tears writing this but I’ve decided to hang up the cleats. Bill, Mr. Kraft (mean mug) thank you for giving me the opportunity to play for your team for 11 years. I love you.”
